Operations Support Manager

Location: Field-Based | Multi-Unit Travel Required

As we continue to grow and strengthen our operations, we'relooking for an Operations Support Manager to partner with restaurantleadership and help drive consistency, talent development, and operationalexecution across multiple markets.

This is a highly visible, field-based role that supports OperationsLeadership (Area Managers, Division Presidents, and General Managers) whilepartnering with field support teams (Recruiting, HR, Benefits, Training, andMarketing) to ensure our restaurants have the talent, training, and supportthey need to succeed.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with Recruiting, Area Managers, and Division Presidents to identify staffing priorities and support restaurant hiring efforts.
  • Conduct first-round interviews for Restaurant Managers, Shift Managers, and crew members, both in person and virtually based on location.
  • Partner with General Managers during crew interviews and hiring events when additional support is needed.
  • Participate in weekly staffing, department, and Area Manager team calls to stay aligned on priorities and business needs.
  • Support restaurant leadership training by utilizing Steak n Shake University (SNSU) and operational reporting tools.
  • Monitor, communicate, and ensure 100% compliance with SNSU testing requirements for all managers.
  • During restaurant visits, review employee SNSU completion and training progress with General Managers.
  • Evaluate Management-in-Training (MIT) development, review SNSU progress, and provide feedback to Area Managers and Division Presidents.
  • Assist with company initiatives, promotions, and operational rollouts, particularly in locations without permanent General Manager or Area Manager leadership.
  • Partner with Human Resources by assisting with employee investigations, gathering documentation, conducting on-site interviews, and supporting follow-up actions.
  • Complete detailed reports following each restaurant visit with observations, recommendations, and action plans.
  • Support quarterly HR compliance initiatives and follow up with restaurant leadership to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Validate operational standards, including Redbook usage, training documentation, and execution of company processes during restaurant visits.

What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of multi-unit restaurant operations, training, field support, or restaurant management experience.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations, staffing, and leadership development.
  • Experience interviewing, hiring, and coaching restaurant hourly managers and hourly team members.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with restaurant and field leadership.
  • Comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities across several markets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and restaurant reporting systems; experience with learning management systems is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within assigned markets on a varied schedule.
