Job Overview

Beckwith Electric, a business unit of Hubbell Power Systems (HPS), is part of Hubbell Incorporated, a global manufacturer of electrical and power solutions with a long history of innovation and reliability. HPS designs and manufactures mission-critical products for electric utilities, supporting transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure worldwide. As a Senior Applications Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting Beckwith Electric's protection, control, and automation solutions. This position serves as a technical expert, customer advocate, and informal team leader, helping utilities successfully apply, configure, and operate mission-critical systems. You will collaborate with engineering, product management, and sales to ensure high-quality solutions and exceptional customer outcomes.

In addition to technical responsibilities, this role contributes to mentorship, knowledge sharing, and operational leadership within the Technical Support team.

A Day In The Life

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
   Provide advanced technical support for Beckwith Electric products and system applications
   Interpret customer requirements and recommend optimal solutions
   Troubleshoot complex field and system issues
   Develop deep expertise across distribution and automation product portfolios
   Support product configuration, settings, and certification testing
   Guide customers on best practices for system integration and operation
   Assist with installation, commissioning, and operational challenges
   Provide real-time technical analysis for customer issues
   Work closely with engineering, product management, and sales teams
   Support product development through customer feedback and application insights
   Deliver technical training, product demonstrations, and presentations
   Develop documentation, white papers, and application guides
   Capture and communicate customer needs, market trends, and product gaps
   Influence product improvements and innovation
   Serves as a technical mentor and leader to junior engineers and support staff. 
   Provides guidance, coaching, and knowledge transfer on complex technical issues and best practices. 
   May lead projects, coordinate team efforts, or act as an escalation point for critical customer support issues.
   All other duties as assigned by management

What will help you thrive in this role?

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  
   BS degree in electrical engineering 
   Minimum 7+ years of experience in power systems, protection, or grid automation
   Strong technical knowledge of distribution utility systems
   Experience with relay protection, automation controls, or grid modernization
   Experience in Electric Utility Industry preferred
   Experience in Application Engineering, Product Engineering is desirable
   3 + years prior experience in customer-facing technical roles as well as general knowledge of power distribution systems

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
   Knowledge of the company's products and services and their application in the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power or similar vendors.
   Ability to meet and work with customers at all levels within the organization.
   Troubleshooting over the phone, asks the right questions and talks individual through problem to solution.
   Advanced analytical and troubleshooting skills
   Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly
   Ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority
   Highly self-motivated with excellent organization and time management
