Position Summary
The Pro Sales Specialist is a key leader at the Sales Desk, responsible for driving growth in the Lumber and Building Materials Departments. In this role, you will cultivate and service relationships with both commercial/contractor accounts and Do-It-Yourself customers, while coaching junior team members to elevate department performance.
This position is designed for a sales professional with strong knowledge of lumber, building materials, and hardware, who thrives on building relationships, generating new business, and achieving measurable results. Along with competitive base pay, this role offers monthly sales achievement bonuses, new account bonuses, and uncapped earning potential.
What You'll Do
Sales Performance (60%)
  • Cultivate and grow contractor/commercial business accounts.
  • Drive incremental sales growth through new customer outreach and relationship management.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local businesses.
  • Manage quotes, estimates, and the Installed Sales program.
  • Monitor competitive activity and share insights with leadership.
  • Implement best practices for selling to achieve sales and margin goals.

Customer Service (30%)
  • Provide project-oriented support to Do-It-Yourself customers at the Sales Desk.
  • Ensure ad merchandise is displayed prominently and add-on items are cross-merchandised.
  • Deliver exceptional customer engagement and maintain a strong presence at the Sales Desk.

Leadership & Training (10%)
  • Assist and mentor junior members of the Sales Desk team.
  • Lead by example in customer engagement and selling strategies.
  • Recommend departmental needs to the General Manager.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience in commercial or contractor sales.
  • Strong knowledge of lumber, building materials, and hardware.
  • Proven ability to build and grow customer accounts.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

  • A pre-established contact list of vendors is highly desirable.
