  • Adapting communication style to build a trusting relationship with guests and influence beauty regimens

  • Providing personalized beauty product and regimen recommendations through guest engagement, product training, and sampling

  • Retail business fundamentals including inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategies

  • Beauty product knowledge, including beauty brands, seasonal trends, cosmetics and various skincare products

As a Beauty Consultant, no two days are ever the same, but a typical day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
  • Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:

  • Greet:

  • 10ft: be friendly - smile, make eye contact, or wave

  • 4ft: greet the guest, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interaction

  • Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience

  • End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you

  • Actively support team efforts and assist peers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude

  • Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience

  • Execute daily tasks assigned to you by your leader to help achieve goals that align with business priorities.

  • Create an inviting shopping environment by executing salesfloor processes for Core Beauty and Beauty Studio areas, when applicable, which include filling the salesfloor with inventory, straightening merchandise, updating salesfloor inventory counts, maintaining testers and making changes to salesfloor merchandise displays.

  • Execute backroom processes for Core Beauty and Beauty Studio areas, when applicable, which include organizing and storing reserve products.

  • Stay current on top beauty brands and trends to engage guests with personal recommendations and product sampling, building loyalty and brand affinity.

  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive-up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.

  • Always demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance.

  • Work in a safe manner at all times; comply with all safety policies, best practices, and training; report hazards and correct where possible.

  • All other duties based on business needs.

The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything you need to know to be a Beauty Consultant. But there are a few skills you should have from the get-go:
  • 12+ months previous beauty retail experience preferred, but not required

  • Strong interest and knowledge of beauty and skincare products

  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members

  • Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed

  • Effective communication skills

  • Work both independently and with a team

  • Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot

  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes.

  • Accurately handle cash register operations as needed.

  • Climb up and down ladders.

  • Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 15 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without additional assistance from others.

  • Variable work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); come to work when scheduled, work scheduled shifts and take required meal and rest breaks.

  • Capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.

  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary).
