Job description

YOU'VE OUTGROWN YOUR CURRENT SHOP
WE BUILT OURS FOR SOMEONE LIKE YOU
THE STRAIGHT TALK

Most barbershops will hand you a chair, a broom, and a prayer.  We're doing something different.  Hammer & Nails is a luxury grooming shop designed specifically for the male client - think leather chairs, private screens, Bose headphones, a full bar, and a membership model that means your book doesn't reset to zero every Monday.
Our Darien location is the kind of place where guys are willing to spend their time and money to look their best.  Your job is to make sure they do.
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO
Precision cuts.  Fades that hold up.  Straight-razor shaves with a hot towel and zero rushed feelings.  Beard work that makes a guy look like he made an effort - even if he didn't.  You'll also get the occasional side of facials for clients that come in for the full treatment.  It's not a quick-cut churn operation.  It's a place where the craft matters.
WHAT MAKES IT WORTH YOUR WHILE
  • Recurring Clientele - membership model means regulars, not walk-in roulette
  • Established Clientele - 585 existing members, plus hundreds more regulars means busy schedules every day of the week
  • Real Earnings - hourly wage + tips + incentive compensation + commuter benefit brings all-in compensation for full-time barbers to $35-$45/hour
  • Prime Location - situated in Darien Commons with tons of foot traffic and complimentary businesses, serving Darien, Stamford, New Canaan and Norwalk
YOU'LL FIT RIGHT IN IF YOU HAVE
  • Valid CT (or other state) barber or cosmetology license
  • Fades & tapers
  • Strong scissor skills
  • Straight-razor shaves
  • Meticulous beard grooming
  • Client-first attitude
  • Team player
  • Weekend availability
