THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL

SciensBuilding Solutionsis seeking anexperiencedERCES/BDA SystemsTechnicianwithprogramming, commissioning, and troubleshooting capabilitiesand experience. This position will work closely with our sales team,field project teams,and clients to ensure a sound design,and seamless installation and commissioning of our ERCESsolutions. Thisis a key position for our growing teamandrequires attention to detail in all aspects ofexecuting projects. Customer andemployee interfacerequiresa high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written, are importantelementsof the position.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!)

  • Responsible for reviewing system layouts and coordinating with engineering, project management, and sales departments for successful project execution.
  • Produce field surveys and daily project logs of activity.
  • Responsible for programming, commissioning and final acceptance by customers and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) of complex Emergency Radio Communications Enhancement Systems (ERCES)systems.
  • Produce detailed commissioning and inspection reports in accordance with NFPA.
  • Responsible for complex troubleshooting and effective resolution.
  • Responsible for delivering projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
  • Responsible for programming systems via laptop computers.
  • Oversight for project inventoryand responsible for vehicle inventory.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Provide support, guidance, and expertise to the other technicians.
  • Customer-focused, skilled in project and people management.
  • Ability to manage job scheduling and job progress in an efficient and cost-effective manner, with a strong focus on quality.
  • Proficient in issue resolution.
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to travel occasionally overnight as needed.

WHAT WE LIKE ABOUT YOU!

  • Two to five yearsof experience in a technician role within the radio communications industry.
  • Experience with: Public Safety Land Mobile Radio (LMR), including trucking, cellular technology, Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), and data networking.
  • Experience with Public Safety simulcast & P25 Radio Systems, and cellular-based technologies & associated testing parameters.
  • Ability to program and commission mid-range ERCES systems using a laptop computer.
  • Must be familiar with NFPA and IFC codes for Emergency Radio Communications Enhancement Systems.
  • Familiar with best practices and RF testing installing coaxial cable and antenna consistent with project requirements and according to local jurisdictions
  • Familiar with best practiceson installation, testing, commission, certify, maintenance and repair of Public Safety & Cellular Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDAs), and associated telecommunications and network equipment which impact government and public safety operations for external and internal customers.
  • Familiar with Public Safety and/or Cellular coverage studies, isolation tests, cable & antenna line sweeps, and acceptance certifications for BDA/DAS projects. Document test results and generate associated system reports for system acceptance.
  • Strong customer service skills and a proven ability to work with both internal and external customers at all levels in a professional and encouraging manner.
  • Ability to read and interpret ERCES project drawings and specifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and time management skills; and the ability to multi-task.

NICE TO HAVE...

  • GROL FCC license is a plus.
  • Strong social skills, specifically in the areas of service, coordination, persuasion, and instruction.
  • Skilled in complex problem solving.
  • Technical skills, and an understanding of ERCES design.
  • System certifications for products represented by Sciens, and for products of other manufacturers similar to those represented by Sciens.
