Job description

TBG is a Texas-based design firm shaping thoughtful, memorable places through landscape architecture, urban design, planning, and branded environments. With offices in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio, we partner with clients across the public, private, institutional, and development sectors on projects throughout Texas and beyond.
We are seeking a Houston-based Business Development Specialist to help strengthen TBG's local presence and support relationship-based business development. Working closely with our Regional BD Manager, this role will help advance Houston market priorities through client outreach, industry engagement, opportunity tracking, and consistent follow-up.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organized, relationship-oriented professional with experience in the AEC, real estate, or development community who is ready to expand their role in strategic business development. Success in this position depends on building trusted relationships, understanding the local market, maintaining consistent follow-through, and supporting the long-term pursuit of opportunities. Experience with ULI or other Houston-area real estate, civic, or AEC organizations is a strong plus.
Requirements:
  • 3-5+ years of experience in AEC, real estate, professional services, marketing, client development, proposal coordination, or related relationship-driven roles; prior exposure to business development or client engagement strongly preferred
  • Interest in growing into strategic business development, with demonstrated ability to connect people, follow up consistently, and understand client and market dynamics
  • Strong organization and follow-through
  • Relationship-oriented communication style
  • Experience supporting BD, marketing, proposals, events, client service, or professional services
  • Ability to maintain CRM/pipeline data; Deltek Vantagepoint preferred
  • Houston-based availability

What You'll Do:
  • Support the Regional BD Manager in executing Houston-focused BD strategies and client development priorities.
  • Track leads, client activity, market intelligence, and follow-up actions in the firm's CRM.
  • Help prepare for client meetings, industry events, networking opportunities, and strategic outreach.
  • Attend select Houston industry events and help maintain TBG's visibility in the market.
  • Coordinate follow-up after meetings, events, and pursuits to ensure momentum is not lost.
  • Partner with marketing and practice leaders to align BD activity with market opportunities.
  • Research target clients, developers, civic initiatives, and upcoming project opportunities.
  • Support proposal and pursuit activity when connected to broader client development goals.
  • Maintain accurate CRM and pipeline information to support client strategy, opportunity tracking, follow-up, and market visibility; Deltek Vantagepoint experience preferred.

At TBG you will find:
  • Commitment to your continued growth as a creative professional
  • Innovation initiatives to unleash bold ideas and pursuit of your passions, including TBG Idea Lab research grants
  • Genuine, thoughtful care for your health, wellbeing and balance, including paid insurance, flexible hours, fitness incentives, healthy snacks, and an employee assistance program
  • Opportunities to mentor and make a difference in the community
  • Employee stock ownership (TBG is 100% employee owned!)
  • Paid parental leave (6 weeks)
  • Benefits, savings resources and year-end profit sharing
