FULL TIME JOB OPENINGS FOR
Lateral Certified Corrections Deputy
AT THE
Washington County Sheriff's Office
Please read the following requirements through their entirety!
Performs a wide range of working level professional law enforcement duties related to operating the Washington County Jail including safety, supervision, booking, release, and inmate programs.
Hours: Various/ Shift work to include holidays, nights and weekends.
Full Time Benefits / Lateral Starting Pay $31.21 to $44.77 per hour DOE

  • $50k term life insurance policy and AD&D policy and long-term disability provided by the employer for each employee
  • County employees accrue 18 days of PTO each year, and PTO can increase based on years of service.
  • In addition to PTO, county employees are also awarded 13 holidays a year.

Retention Bonuses for continuous years of certified officer service to Washington County:
5 years: $2500 10 years: $5000 15 years: $7500 20 years: $10,000
Minimum Qualifications and Conditions:
  1. Graduation from High School or GED.
  2. Valid Utah Driver's License
  3. Must be at least 21 years of age.
  4. A candidate must have at least 1 year of previous corrections officer experience as a Utah POST-certified BCO and either be currently working with a corrections facility in this capacity or have been employed in this capacity within 12 months prior to the date of application with the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
  5. Out of State POST BCO / Corrections certified officers are encouraged to apply but must contact Utah POST to ensure applicant is eligible to challenge the Utah BCO certification process to receive Utah POST BCO certification. Washington County Sheriff's Office will not move forward in the application process until the applicant has obtained the necessary Utah POST BCO Certification.
  6. Candidates must successfully complete all stages of the Washington County Sheriff's Office testing process. Testing stages include, but are not limited to: Physical Agility Test at POST BCO Entrance Standard, Background Investigation, Computer Voice Stress Analysis (CVSA), Interview, and Chemical Screening.
