Job description

Location: Onsite Reedsville, PA

Schedule: Mon – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Salary: $45,000 - $52,000

What work will you perform?

As a Truck Driver Business Trainer at Landstar, you will lead various business related trainings for new Landstar truck drivers (internally called BCO's) as they launch and grow their Landstar career.  You will help ensure they understand Landstar's systems and procedures including safety regulations. This involves hosting open, interactive forums for questions, providing guidance on finding loads and getting paid, and emphasizing the use of essential Landstar business tools and resources.  The ideal candidate is a coach/mentor who wants to help others succeed.  Former teachers, coaches, safety, operations or transportation professionals who want to grow a career with a stable company should consider applying.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate an open forum where new BCO's and Operators receive assistance and support.
  • Acclimate new BCO's and Operators to the "Landstar System" (i.e., how to find loads, settlement process, resolution steps)
  • Update BCO and Operator files in iSeries 400, as necessary.
  • Provide solutions for BCO and Operator questions/problems/concerns.
  • Perform as intermittent backup for Landstar peers as necessary
  • Actively participate in onsite Safety meetings
  • Handle incoming calls from BCO's and Operators.
  • Special projects and assignments as needed.
  • Deliver instruction on Landstar policies, logging, hazardous materials, regulatory information, and "Decision Driving" skills and techniques
  • Promote the importance of essential Landstar business productivity resources (including, but not limited to, business planners, Landstar website and intranet, industry specific apps, and precalculated interactive excel spreadsheets).

 Required Minimum Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One year of operations and/or safety experience

Preferred Experience:

  • 1 year of leadership, coaching, or training experience 
  • 6 months of experience with in-person presentations
  • 6 months of transportation experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to engage, educate, and train individuals in a fast-paced environment
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Good organizational skills including time management
