Job description

Job Summary **OPEN UNTIL FILLED The Legal Assistant performs advanced legal secretarial and administrative support to several Attorneys involving composing, revising and formatting legal documents and correspondences, drafting criminal complaints, delinquency petitions, child protection petitions, pleadings, extradition proceedings, orders and complex correspondence and documents. Provides litigation and legal administrative assistance to all Attorneys in all areas of law. (Criminal and Civil: includes but not limited to: Juvenile, CHIPS, Child Support, Extradition, Guardianships & Conservatorships, Commitments, Contracts, Tax Law, Land Ordinances, Gun Permits, Civil Litigation, Person Crimes, Property Crimes, Traffic Crimes, Predator Offender Registrations, Prison Prosecution Contracts, Appeals) Examples of Duties Prepares quality legal documentation in a timely manner.

Maintains case files, evidence and documentation needed for various case files from start to finish, including hearings and trials. Serves as contact person among internal and external Attorneys, parties and agencies. Updates and maintains various department calendar databases for future court appearances and communicates with staff regarding calendar changes.

Performs general administrative work for Attorney's office. Performs other duties as necessary. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The position requires an associate's degree for Legal Assistants or a Paralegal Certificate, and two or more years of related secretarial experience in a legal setting or equivalent.

A valid driver's license is required. Supplemental Information HIRING RANGE/ UNION: $27.67 - $28.91 per hour / General Unit Union - Grade 8 HOURS: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30/5:00 p.m., with a one hour or half hour lunch break for a total of a 40-hour work week
