Job description

 
The County of Adams Deputy Sheriff plays a vital role in maintaining safety and order within the community. Assigned tasks by the Corporal, Sergeants, Lieutenant, Chief Deputy, and Sheriff include responsibilities such as courtroom security, prisoner transportation, warrant service, and civil process execution.

The mission of the Adams County Sheriff's office is to proved first call professional and courteous service to the Adams County Courts, the Citizens of Adams County, its agencies, and all law enforcement organizations with whom we partner to maintain order in the community. 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
  • While not mandatory, certification as a law enforcement officer under PA Act 120 or a Deputy Sheriff under Act 2 or equivalent in other states will be given preference  

License(s) and Certification(s):

  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Knowledge of use of firearms (NRA/Police Firearms Training will be given at Deputy Sheriff’s training)
  • Successful completion of Deputy Sheriff training after hire 
  • Required by CJIS to pass all initial and future security clearances.
