A Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) is a professional who assists Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) in implementing behavior analysis services. They work with individuals to improve skills and reduce problematic behaviors using evidence-based strategies. BCaBAs conduct assessments, develop intervention plans, and supervise behavior technicians under the guidance of a BCBA. They typically work in schools, clinics, homes, or community settings with individuals with autism or other developmental disorders.
As a BCaBA, you'll typically assist in designing, implementing, and monitoring individualized behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Your daily tasks may include collecting and analyzing behavioral data, providing direct client support, training caregivers or staff, and assisting with progress reports. Collaboration with a team—including BCBAs, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), and families—is a consistent part of the role. This hands-on, team-oriented environment helps ensure quality care and ongoing professional development.
To thrive as a BCaBA (Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst), you need a bachelor's degree in a related field, foundational knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA), and BCaBA certification. Familiarity with data collection software, ABA assessment tools, and electronic case management systems is common in this role. Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and attention to detail set standout BCaBAs apart. We are a clinician-led ABA practice seeking a BCaBA to provide hands-on clinical support under the ongoing supervision of a BCBA, in accordance with BACB standards. This is not a role where you’re expected to operate beyond your credential, “figure it out alone,” or fill gaps caused by poor systems.
Instead, you’ll join a team that believes BCaBAs should be supported, developed, and protected.

Your Role (What You’ll Actually Be Doing)
This BCaBA role focuses on day-to-day clinical support and implementation, always under BCBA oversight and direction.
Core Responsibilities
Support RBTs with implementation of BCBA-developed and approved programs
Model teaching procedures and behavior strategies during sessions
Assist with RBT onboarding and case-specific training
Conduct probes and assist with program updates under BCBA direction
Review session data and prepare summaries for BCBA review
Participate in parent training as directed by the supervising BCBA
Collaborate with school staff using BCBA-approved goals and strategies
You will never be expected to operate outside your scope or comfort level.
Role Boundaries (To Support Ethical Practice)
To ensure ethical practice and protect both our clinicians and clients, this role includes clear professional boundaries aligned with BACB standards.
The BCaBA in this role will not be expected to:
Conduct initial assessments independently
Write, approve, or substantially modify treatment plans or BIPs without BCBA approval
Increase or authorize service hours
Make independent clinical decisions outside BCBA direction
Be responsible for staffing, scheduling, or crisis coverage decisions
Replace BCBA supervision or clinical judgment
These boundaries are in place to support your professional growth, protect your credential, and ensure high-quality care for the families we serve.
