Position Title: Hand Solder Technician II

Department: Hand Solderย 

Location: Santa Ana, CAย 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full- Timeย 


Job Summary:ย 

The Hand Solder Technician II is responsible for performing precision hand soldering of electronic components on printed circuit boards (PCBs) in accordance with IPC standards. This intermediate-level role requires strong soldering skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret assembly documentation. The Technician ensures that assemblies meet quality, reliability, and production standards.


Key Responsibilities:ย 

Perform through-hole and surface mount (SMT) hand soldering on PCBs using appropriate tools and techniques.

Read and interpret assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions.

Inspect solder joints for conformance to IPC-A-610 and company standards.

Rework and repair defective solder joints and components as needed.

Operate under magnification (e.g., microscopes, magnifiers) for detailed soldering tasks.

Maintain accurate production records and ensure documentation is completed properly.

Follow safety protocols and ESD (electrostatic discharge) procedures.

Work collaboratively with all necessary teams to resolve assembly issues.

Support continuous improvement efforts in production processes and product quality.

Intermediate level BCA rework utilizing hot air and IR equipment/machines.


Qualifications:ย 

High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in soldering (preferred)

minimum of 2 years of experience in hand soldering in a manufacturing or electronics environment.

Proficient in IPC-A-610 soldering standards; IPC J-STD-001 certification is a plus.

Ability to work with small components and use hand tools with precision.

Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.


Physical Requirements:ย 

Ability to stand and sit for long periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.ย 

Manual dexterity to handle small components and operate equipment.
