To thrive as a Baylor Plan Nurse, you need a valid RN or LPN license, strong clinical assessment abilities, and experience in patient care, often tailored to weekend or flexible scheduling. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs), medication administration systems, and scheduling software is typically required. These skills are crucial for ensuring quality patient outcomes and efficient workflow during condensed work schedules.

How does the Baylor Plan schedule work for nurses, and what are the benefits and challenges of this arrangement?

The Baylor Plan typically allows nurses to work two 12-hour shifts over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) while receiving full-time pay and benefits. This schedule is designed to provide coverage during times when staffing can be difficult, such as weekends and holidays. Benefits include a better work-life balance during the week, more consecutive days off, and the ability to meet full-time requirements with fewer days worked. However, challenges may include working long shifts, potential for higher patient acuity on weekends, and missing out on weekday team collaboration. Many nurses find the arrangement rewarding, especially if they value flexibility and concentrated work hours.
