Job description

Job Posting Title Senior Systems Engineer - Operations - Multiple Openings Job Summary: The Senior Systems Engineer - Operations will be responsible for leading cross-disciplinary aspects of the design and development of high-voltage automotive battery packs. The Senior Systems Engineer - Operations will be responsible for ensuring specific battery pack requirements are understood and driving all activity related to the battery system. This will require the Senior Systems Engineer - Operations to interface with manufacturing, mechanical design, thermal design, electrical design, harness design, and software team members. Responsibilities:
  • Lead cross-disciplinary aspects of the design and development of high-voltage automotive battery packs and ensure specific battery pack requirements are understood and driving all activity related to the battery system.
  • Interface with manufacturing, mechanical design, thermal design, electrical design, harness design, and software team members, and drive systems engineering activities on customer projects, including system testing, requirements development, and problem-solving activities.
  • Provide senior-level support for prototype system builds, DV and PV builds, and production builds, and contribute to the development of the customer compliance matrix of customer requirements to an agreed baseline.
  • Support the development of system-level DFMEA and integrate it with requirements and verification plans, while also supporting and influencing the development of system requirements, architecture, and system concept sizing.
  • Maintain changes to requirements, perform impact analysis, help track scope creep, and maintain system requirements throughout the product life cycle.
  • Lead cross-functional interface evaluations and any constraints, and provide strong technical support to key functional engineering groups (ME, EE, SW, BMS).
  • Oversee functional safety, security, and reliability engineering analysis, listen to the voice of the customer and translate it into system requirements, support decomposition of DFMEA into subsystem DFMEA and PFMEA, and help develop system inspection requirements for end-of-line testing based on the quality control plan.
  • Serve as the expert at the manufacturing plant for all system-related issues requiring resolution.
Position Qualifications: Education*: Bachelor - Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Systems Engineering Experience*: Five (5) years in the position above, Mechanical Engineer, Systems Engineer or in a related mechanical engineering role; Experience must include: 1. Battery Systems (>350V) for automotive applications; 2. Systems Engineering of Battery Packs and Battery Management Systems (BMS) 3. Architecture Development and System-Level testing; 4. SolidWorks, Jama, Minitab, Vector CANoe, CAN, LIN, GPIO; 5. DFMEA, PFMEA, DFM/DFA and DVP&R; 6. High and Low Voltage Power and Communication Systems; 7. Root Cause Analysis of Technical Issues. *Will accept equivalent foreign degree; will accept Master's degree and two (2) years of related experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree and Five (5) years; will also accept any fully equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. Location: 50 Ovonic Way, Springboro, Ohio 45066. Domestic travel within Michigan and Ohio, as well as international travel to China, Japan, Singapore, Korea and Canada required up to 20% of time for training and equipment evaluations.
