We are currently seeking a High Voltage & Battery Systems Engineer. This position requires an experienced professional with a strong understanding of high voltage automotive systems, and the challenges of integrating such systems within a vehicle. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches their work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. 
Role: 

  • Be part of a passionate and highly driven team of multi-disciplinary engineers developing the next generation HV system and architecture. 
  • Support a team in delivery of HV system engineering deliverables including defining system strategies, use cases, system diagrams, requirements, DVP&R, EOL, FMEA. 
  • Contribute to innovative technical solutions that enable the best overall product performance by leveraging system modeling tools and in-depth system knowledge. 
  • Derive powertrain L0 to L3 vehicle to system requirements and perform and drive customer facing attributes. 
  • Act as interface between the HV systems team and cross functional stakeholders. 
  • Act as interface between the HV systems team and external OEMs. 
  • Collaborate with program team to develop efficient processes to speed up product development cycles. 
  • Create and maintain documentation strategy of product specifications, test and data analysis results. 

Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years of experience in HV systems, battery systems and/or automotive industries. 
  • Experience in one or more of the following system areas HV distribution, power conversion, thermal management, battery energy storage, passive safety, battery management.  
  • Passion for contributing to elegant system design from product to engineering solution. 
  • Solid understanding of engineering first principles and system engineering. 
  • Fundamental understanding of battery technology, high-voltage safety and controls. 
  • Experience performing or participating in FMEA and building DVP&R for high voltage systems. 
  • Ability to quickly comprehend complex systems, identify problems and effectively coordinate an action plan to drive decisions. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments. 
  • Ability to solve open-ended engineering problems using systems level thinking. 
  • A detail-oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills. 
  • Ownership mindset, enthusiasm, and a collaborative spirit. 
     

Preferred: 

  • Experience with hardware-related system development (e.g., complex control units, vehicle electrical architecture, etc.) 
  • Experience with automated requirements management tools (e.g., JAMA, Cameo, Polarion, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of modeling techniques used to simulate lithium-ion cells, battery packs, HV distribution, power electronics and thermal systems. 
  • Experience using modeling and simulation tools like MATLAB, Simulink, Python and other specialized tools 
  • Experience in developing plant models used for battery control algorithms simulation and verification. 
  • Experience defining test plans, designing test setups, and analyzing data. 
  • Knowledge of automotive and safety standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, IEC, UL, SAE, GB, etc.) 
  • Experience with product failure analysis. 
  • Experience managing product development cycles 
  • Vehicle data logging, calibration and data analysis using Vector tool chain or similar. 
  • Experience with Atlassian Software (JIRA, Confluence) 

Education: 

BS (and preferably MS or PhD) in a relevant engineering discipline 

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
 
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. $113,800—$156,530 USD
