Roles & Responsibilities: * Characterizing the maturity, limitations, and capabilities of emerging technologies for battery manufacturing and other battery supply chain steps.
* Evaluation of future battery technology scientific- and market-driven trends and overall limitations in unique MITRE customer environments and within the context of global battery supply chains.
* Identification of battery technology integration and/or deployment challenges through analytical and model-base (e.g., engineering models) assessment.
* Framing and communicating power and energy technology performance and cost in customer applications.
* Transdisciplinary collaboration with diverse experts from across MITRE, our customers, and partners, providing subject matter expertise in batteries and associated technologies. Basic Qualifications: * BS and 8 years of relevant experience in one of the following fields: Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, and/or Physics.
* Deep technical expertise in one or more battery technology areas, including: manufacturing processes and quality control, system/application integration, in situ battery management and control system development, safety analysis and management, packaging and ruggedization, or performance testing and prediction.
* The ability to think critically and be proactive in pursuing research and problem-solving with minimal supervision.
* Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills.
* The ability to conduct research and development of new energy and power technologies to meet customer requirements in a collaborative environment with both internal and external researchers. * Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a U.S. government security investigation and must be able to obtain a Department of Defense TOP SECRET // SENSITIVE COMPARTMENTED INFORMATION clearance
* Per the U.S. Government's eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
* This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site Preferred Qualifications: * MS +6 or PhD +3 years of relevant experience in one of the following areas: Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, and/or Physics.
* Extensive experience and expertise, including recent publications, related to battery supply chains, battery manufacturing, battery system integration, or other battery technology areas. * Basic understanding of a broad range of energy storage, energy conversion, energy harvesting technologies, power distribution, and power management systems.
