The chosen candidate will be assigned to an operational shift with significant administrative duties. The operational shift is a 48/96 schedule that falls on the Davis County C shift schedule. The position is salaried, however does require off duty assignments.
Farmington City provides a full comprehensive benefit program including:

The Battalion Chief testing process is anticipated to be scheduled during the week of September 20-25th. This is subject to change if needed. The testing dates will be made available once a candidate is scheduled for testing.

Position Summary:
This position provides strategic and operational leadership for an assigned shift/ crew. Directing emergency response operations, supervising personnel, and managing daily administrative functions. This position ensures safe, effective and efficient service delivery through incident command, leadership development, operational readiness, and compliance with department policies/ laws and standards while fostering collaboration, accountability and a high level of customer service to the community. Positional responsibilities will include both shift and administrative requirements.

Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements listed below represent the essential functions of the Fire Engineer position and are necessary to perform the job safely and effectively;
Must have the physical capability to lift, carry, drag, push, or move items weighing up to 75 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with team assistance. Employee must be able to perform sustained physical activity, including climbing stairs, advancing hose lines, operating tools, and conducting rescue tasks while wearing full structural firefighting personal protective equipment in high-heat, low-visibility environments. Firefighters frequently walk, run, crawl, crouch, kneel, stoop, and climb ladders or stairs, maintaining balance on uneven or elevated surfaces. They must be able to read gauges, instruments, maps, and digital displays and quickly observe hazards in dynamic and rapidly changing situations. Acute hearing is essential for detecting radios, alarms, and verbal commands in high ambient noise and effective communication, via radio, intercom, verbal, and written forms is critical in emergency settings. The employee will also need the endurance to sit or stand for extended periods while remaining alert and responsive to operational demands.
