About the Job
We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Youth Flag Football Instructor & Official to join our team.
In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for enhancing the overall league experience for participants ages 5-14. You will have hands-on involvement with both practices and games across all skill levels, working side-by-side with our Parent Volunteer Coaches each week to ensure a positive, fun, and highly effective instructional experience.
Schedule & Locations
This position offers Saturdays &/or Sunday Work Opportunity. Candidates must be committed to working each weekend of the active season.
  • Locations: Leesburg, Ashburn, Purcellville, South Riding
  • Upcoming Fall League: Sept 12th - Oct 17th (Note: Rain out/make-up dates run through Nov 1st)

Key Responsibilities
1. Instruction & Skill Development
  • Teach young athletes the fundamental skills and techniques of flag football, including passing, catching, route running, and defensive positioning.
  • Assist volunteer coaches in executing age-appropriate drills using curriculum and practice plans fully provided by i9 Sports.
  • Provide positive, constructive feedback to help players build confidence and improve their game.
  • Complete mandatory, financially compensated pre-season training sessions.

2. Game Officiating
  • Serve as the on-field official/referee for youth flag football games, ensuring fair play, proper positioning, and adherence to i9 Sports rules.
  • Maintain a professional, authoritative, yet approachable and unbiased demeanor on the field.
  • Manage game flow smoothly, handling rule explanations and on-field situations with diplomacy and patience.

3. Safety & Supervision
  • Prioritize and ensure the physical and emotional safety of all participants during practices and games (including proper usage of flags and mouthguards).
  • Supervise groups of young athletes, keeping energy levels high and maintaining an inclusive, positive team environment.
  • Promptly address and report any safety concerns or field conditions.

4. Communication & Support
  • Maintain open, professional, and positive communication with parents, participants, and staff.
  • Act as an on-field mentor to volunteer parent coaches, helping them manage their teams effectively.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous experience coaching, playing, or officiating flag football (or tackle football) is required.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of football rules, terminology, and standard gameplay.
  • Soft Skills: High patience, high energy, a positive attitude, and excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently interact with children, motivate volunteer coaches, and address parent feedback.
  • Logistics & Requirements:
    • Must be 16 years of age or older.
    • Must have a reliable personal vehicle/transportation.
    • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check.
    • Must be extremely reliable, punctual, and committed to working consecutive Saturdays (including potential make-up dates).

Compensation: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
