Job description

Hey - Scot here, CEO and co-founder of ReFiBuy. If you're a writer who loves taking a messy, complicated, fast-moving idea and turning it into something a buyer can actually understand and act on - keep reading.

A few quick notes up front:

  • No recruiters, please.
  • Applicants must have permanent work authorization in the US. We're not sponsoring visas for this role.
  • This role can be remote in the US or based out of our Raleigh, NC office. Either way, expect to spend real time with the founders - on Zoom, Slack, and a few times a year in person.

The Opportunity

We're hiring a Content Marketing Manager to help ReFiBuy clearly explain one of the most important shifts happening in commerce - and to help us define the category we're building: Agentic Commerce Optimization.

This is a writing-first role. You'll collaborate across campaigns, launches, sales enablement, and PR, but your core craft is turning complex ideas into compelling content buyers can understand and use. You'll help build the editorial engine that turns ReFiBuy's founder POV, product insights, customer conversations, and market data into content across written, video, sales, and campaign channels.

You'll report to the VP of Growth and work directly with the founders, sales, product, and partnerships teams.

What you'll do

  • Shape and maintain ReFiBuy's core messaging around Agentic Commerce Optimization, the AI shopping shift, and what brands and retailers need to do next.
  • Write across formats: blogs, guides, customer stories, landing pages, emails, video scripts, sales materials, and thought leadership.
  • Create long-form editorial content: POV pieces, frameworks, benchmark-style reports, and category education that help ReFiBuy lead the AI-and-commerce conversation.
  • Support integrated campaigns with messaging and copy for email, paid ads, website pages, events, webinars, nurture sequences, and other GTM assets.
  • Build sales enablement and customer-facing materials that help our team explain the market shift, create urgency, differentiate ReFiBuy, and move prospects from interest to action.
  • Turn product releases into market-facing stories - launch messaging, announcement content, sales talk tracks, email copy, video scripts, amplification assets.
  • Manage an editorial calendar and use sales feedback, customer conversations, content engagement, and pipeline influence to sharpen what's next.

What you'll bring

  • 2-5+ years in content marketing, product marketing, editorial, brand storytelling, or growth marketing - ideally in B2B SaaS, ecommerce, retail tech, data, or AI.
  • Excellent writing and editing across long-form and short-form formats, from strategic essays and guides to landing pages, emails, and sales one-pagers.
  • Ability to make complex technical or market concepts clear, compelling, and useful for business audiences.
  • Strong editorial judgment with a high bar for clarity, accuracy, structure, and tone.
  • Experience creating content that supports both brand authority and revenue goals - sales enablement, campaigns, launches, pipeline-generating programs.
  • Comfort working directly with founders, sales leaders, product leaders, and SMEs to extract ideas and turn them into strong content.
  • Bias toward action: you can work from messy inputs, ask good questions, move fast, and ship strong drafts without waiting for the perfect brief.
  • Genuine curiosity about AI, commerce, marketplaces, retail, product data, and emerging tech categories.

How we work

Builder culture: fast iterations, real ownership, daily shipping. We use modern AI tools to research faster, sharpen ideas, and repurpose content - but the writing voice and judgment have to come from a human who cares about the craft. Fewer meetings, more co-creation.

Why ReFiBuy?

  • Help explain and shape an emerging category at the intersection of AI and commerce - one of the most consequential shifts in retail in a decade.
  • Work directly with proven ecommerce founders (Scot Wingo and team) and an experienced group of operators with deep domain expertise.
  • Create content for a company with strong founder POV, early customer traction, and a fast-moving product story.
  • AI-native organization - we use modern tools to research faster, sharpen ideas, repurpose content, and lift the quality and speed of GTM execution.
  • Join early enough to have real ownership, visibility, and influence as the company scales.

Benefits

We're a seed-stage startup, and we've put real benefits in place - here's the deal:

  • Healthcare - Three BCBS plans to choose from. ReFiBuy covers 80% of the base plan; you cover 20%.
  • Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance - available alongside the medical plans.
  • 401k through Human Interest, with a company match: 100% of contributions up to 1% of salary, plus 50% up to 5%. No vesting - it's yours from day one.
  • Incentive Stock Options (ISOs) - you're getting in on the ground floor. 4-year vesting, quarterly.
  • PTO - 15 days (120 hours) per year, accruing each pay period. PTO can be used as it accrues, carries over year-to-year up to a 120-hour cap, and unused PTO is paid out at the end of your service.
  • Parking - covered by ReFiBuy.
  • Office - Raleigh: Founded at 509 W. North St, Raleigh, NC 27603. Glenwood South location, walking distance to restaurants and amenities, with a spacious breakroom, hangout areas, a wellness room, and more.

Note: Benefits are eligible 30 days after start.

About ReFiBuy

ReFiBuy is the Agentic Commerce Optimization (ACO) platform for brands, retailers, and agencies. We exist to help commerce teams compete and win in a world where AI shopping agents - ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, and whatever ships next month - increasingly decide what gets discovered, recommended, and purchased.

The tools that power ecommerce today were never designed for agents. Product visibility used to depend on people typing keywords; now it depends on whether your product data is complete, structured, and intelligible to machines. We built ReFiBuy from the ground up as an AI-native, closed-loop platform - our Commerce Intelligence Engine ingests catalogs at the SKU level, evaluates how agentic engines interpret each product, enriches the gaps, distributes optimized data back to the engines, and monitors performance over time.

We were founded by four ecommerce operators with serious mileage - ChannelAdvisor, Rithum, MikMak, and Walmart - which makes us one of the most experienced AI startups in the Triangle. We're working with real brands and retailers (Steve Madden among them) on real catalogs, today.

Speed-wise: compared to a traditional company you'll feel like you're going 100x faster. Compared to a typical startup, 10-20x. If you like to build great and fast, be innovative, go home exhausted from learning so much, and ship work where the impact is immediate - you're going to love it here.

If this sounds like your kind of room, send us your resume and a few links to things you've shipped. We read everything.

That's it for now - looking forward to meeting you.

- Scot Wingo, CEO
