Job Description
Our client, a stable and highly respected financial services organization, is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for a modern AWS-based enterprise platform supporting mission-critical banking data.
This role combines architecture, hands-on software development, mentoring, and technical leadership while working within a collaborative Agile environment.
Rather than managing people, you'll lead by exampleโguiding engineering decisions, mentoring experienced developers, driving architecture discussions, and helping ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced cloud engineer who enjoys solving complex distributed systems challenges while remaining actively involved in software development.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and architecture for cloud-native enterprise applications
- Design and develop scalable Java and Spring Boot microservices
- Architect AWS-based solutions supporting high-volume enterprise workloads
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven services
- Lead technical planning, estimation, and solution design
- Mentor developers through code reviews and technical guidance
- Establish engineering standards, best practices, and development processes
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, and engineering teams
- Support production systems and participate in on-call rotations
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex production issues
- Partner with Change Management for production deployments
- Drive continuous improvement through automation, AI-assisted development, and modern engineering practices
Qualifications & Requirements
Required
- Extensive Java development experience
- Strong Spring Boot experience
- Deep AWS cloud experience
- Experience building Microservices architectures
- Experience with REST APIs
- Strong PostgreSQL and SQL expertise
- Experience with Event-Driven Architecture and messaging technologies
- Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong understanding of distributed systems
- Excellent troubleshooting and production support experience
- Strong communication and technical leadership skills
