First State Bank is seeking a detail-oriented Commercial Loan Processor / Closer to join our Loan Operations team in Middlebury, Indiana.
This position plays an important role in supporting our commercial lending team by preparing, reviewing, and coordinating documentation for commercial loan closings. The successful candidate will work closely with lenders, loan support staff, attorneys, title companies, and other internal partners to ensure loans are properly documented, compliant, and ready for closing.
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year of recent banking experience. Commercial lending experience is preferred but not required.

This is an on-site position located in Middlebury, Indiana. Remote and hybrid work arrangements are not available.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare commercial loan documentation for new and renewed credit facilities.
  • Review loan files, title work, flood determinations, insurance documents, and collateral documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate loan closings and communicate with lenders and support staff regarding outstanding conditions and documentation requirements.
  • Track loan exceptions, tickler items, renewals, and required follow-up documentation.
  • Scan, index, and maintain electronic loan files to support audit readiness and documentation integrity.
  • Assist with collateral perfection activities, including mortgage recordings, UCC filings, continuations, and related follow-up.
  • Support commercial loan servicing functions, including insurance tracking and financial statement monitoring.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives focused on process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Complete required compliance, regulatory, and bank training.

What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent banking experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial loan processing, loan documentation, loan operations, or commercial lending support experience.
  • Familiarity with commercial loan documentation and collateral requirements.
  • Experience preparing loan documents and coordinating loan closings.
  • Experience with banking loan systems and electronic document management platforms.
  • Associate's degree or additional post-secondary education.
