Job description

Role Overview
The Corporate Banking Senior Analyst -Financial Institutions Network Banking North America is an intermediate-level position responsible for providing critical analytical, research, and transaction execution support to the FIG Network Banking North America team. Sitting under the Director (Head of FIG Network Banking North America), the Senior Analyst serves as the foundational engine for portfolio intelligence.
The primary objective of this role is to conduct sophisticated financial and economic research on foreign financial institutions (including foreign banks, broker-dealers, asset managers, and insurance companies), organize complex financial data to build strategic client proposals, and assist in the execution of capital markets, Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS), and Markets transactions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Analysis & Portfolio Modeling
  • Data Synthesis: Organize and analyze sophisticated financial data from foreign financial institutions to evaluate creditworthiness, liquidity profiles, and operational performance.
  • Benchmarking: Provide detailed evaluations of Foreign Financial Institutions client's financial performance compared to global peer groups, regional industry benchmarks, and market trends.
  • Statistical Exhibits: Create and maintain complex financial models, statistical exhibits, and valuation metrics used in strategic plans and portfolio reviews.
2. Strategic Research & Client Proposals
  • Market & Economic Research: Conduct ongoing economic, regulatory, and financial research on global financial markets, correspondent banking trends, and clearing systems.
  • Proposal Preparation: Prepare written recommendations, high-quality pitch books, and client proposals used by the team for strategic client presentations.
  • Briefing Materials: Draft comprehensive briefing memos and background profiles on clients ahead of senior-level executive meetings and calling campaigns.
3. Transaction Execution & Product Coordination
  • Transaction Support: Participate actively in client transactions, capital markets issuances, and advisory projects as the junior member of the coverage team.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Partner with product specialists across TTS (clearing, cash management, trade), Markets (FX, derivatives), and Securities Services to gather pricing, product data, and structure customized client solutions.
  • Trading Intermediary: Assist in coordinating client trading initiatives and market transactions in alignment with institutional banking guidelines.
4. Risk, KYC & Compliance Support
  • Onboarding & KYC Assistance: Partner with onboarding managers and the Bankers to gather, organize, and analyze the highly specialized "Know Your Client" (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) documentation required for high-scrutiny FFI clients.
  • Early Warning Monitoring: Monitor portfolio clients for early warning indicators of credit, operational, or geopolitical risk, escalating findings proactively to the Bankers.
  • Reputational Safeguarding: Ensure all activities adhere strictly to Citi's compliance policies, regulatory guidelines, and ethical standards to protect the firm's reputation and assets.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience in corporate banking, investment banking, financial institutions research, or a highly analytical financial services role.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and presentation design (PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Industry Knowledge: Theoretical and practical understanding of corporate banking, capital markets, transaction banking products, and the regulatory environment affecting financial institutions.
  • Licensing: SIE, Series 79 and 63 licenses are required within 150 days of joining.
  • Communication: Consistently demonstrate clear, concise, and polished written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attributes: Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills; ability to work effectively under pressure in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

  • Required: Bachelor's degree / University degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, International Affairs or a related quantitative discipline.
