Job Description:
This job is responsible for the local and/or global management and direction of applicable market related risk management functions within a specific product area. Key responsibilities include monitoring and adhering to market risk management policies, procedures, and standards, and implementing new/complex product approval processes, analysis of model risk, analysis and reporting of market risk, distributing the market risk reports, and interfacing with the trading desk and other risk and support groups (i.e., Compliance, Finance, Operations, etc.).
Responsibilities:
  • Provides oversight of identification of market risk exposures and mitigation strategies and resolutions in accordance with the bank's risk appetite and risk limits identified, as well as regulatory requirements, as applicable
  • Provides oversight of risk requests, breach remediations and providing risk effective challenges for front line units
  • Oversees development of market risk coverage plans, execution of monitoring, testing and risk assessments, and market risk reporting for specific products
  • Liaisons with businesses to understand market trends and impacts on portfolio, using knowledge of stress testing and its applicability to market risk
  • Ensures adherence to the policies and procedures established by the company

This is a director level leadership role within Global Markets Risk, responsible for end-to-end oversight of the US Rates Non-Linear business trading business in New York. The director must bring deep market expertise, a command on interest rates complex derivatives, and extensive experience evaluating and challenging complex structured and financing transactions. The role carries direct accountability for identifying, evaluating, and escalating material risks; enforcing the firm's risk appetite; and driving a consistently high standard of risk governance across non-linear rates franchise, helping business grow and develop in a sustainable way. The candidate will have a dual reporting line to a regional lead and Global Rates and is expected to operate as a trusted senior partner, a rigorous challenger, and a thought leader across the organization.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide authoritative oversight across all major exposures in the US Non-linear portfolio, ensuring senior management receives timely, high-quality risk insights and forward-looking assessments.
  • Partner with Business, Legal, Finance, and Operations to ensure new products meet the firm's standards for transparency, valuation, and risk management techniques.
  • Act as the principal director level challenger to the Front Office on risk drivers, concentrations, and emerging vulnerabilities, ensuring the business operates firmly within the firm's stated risk appetite.
  • Lead enforcement of risk limits, ensuring breaches or material deviations are escalated promptly with clear remediation expectations.
  • Partner with Front Office leadership to enhance transparency, strengthen risk discipline, and drive meaningful improvements in portfolio construction and risk-return efficiency.
  • Continuously assess developments in market fundamentals, macroeconomics, geopolitics, and cross-asset market structure, translating them into actionable risk guidance for trading management.
  • Design and deliver high-impact stress scenarios, quantify portfolio vulnerabilities, and influence strategic repositioning where tail exposures are misaligned with risk appetite.
  • Drive enhancements to risk infrastructure, reporting design, data quality, and analytic tooling to ensure precision, robustness, and global consistency.
  • Oversee regulatory risk deliverables (e.g., CCAR, internal stress programs, point-of-weakness reviews), ensuring that director level judgment is applied to the integrity of methodologies and outputs.
  • Lead independent risk review of bespoke, structured, or novel transactions, ensuring risks are thoroughly understood, accurately quantified, and acceptable under firm-wide governance.
  • Mentor and elevate team capabilities across the global risk organization, promoting excellence, sound judgment, and a culture of constructive challenge

Required Qualifications:
  • Solid academic background, which may include a postgraduate qualification
  • Good people skills demonstrated across various communication styles (both written and verbal)
  • Knowledge of financial markets, ideally with solid understanding of Macroeconomics
  • Understanding of financial derivatives and rates exotic modelling
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize across several competing demands, meeting tight deadlines
  • Previous experience as a Risk Manager working directly with the Front Line and performing risk analysis is desirable
