Description
Energy One Federal Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented and member-focused Collections Specialist to help protect the credit union's assets while delivering exceptional service to our members. This role is responsible for managing delinquent loan accounts, collecting past-due payments, and working collaboratively with members to establish effective repayment solutions. The ideal candidate balances firm collections practices with empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to helping members achieve financial stability.
Duties include:
  • Contacts delinquent accounts by phone, email or mail; Advises and counsels members of necessary actions and makes payment arrangements
  • Assisting with GAP claims, scanning paper files, assigning charged off accounts to the attorney and collections agency, calling on negative accounts, and calling on accounts with force placed insurance.
  • Evaluates financial situation of delinquent borrowers; Makes recommendations to Department Supervisor to repossess collateral or take other legal action when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
  • Maintains accurate files and documentation of all contacts made with borrowers in system as required.
  • Stays current on collections process knowledge. Comply with credit union procedures for collections. Informs management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans.

Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of Collections experience is highly desirable
  • Previous experience in financial services, banking, or credit union operations preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to delivering outstanding member service.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment .
