Chief Risk Officer

Enrichment Federal Credit Union

Oak Ridge, TN

CHIEF RISK OFFICER

Enrichment Federal Credit Union

$972M Assets

Oak Ridge, TN (On-site)

Lead Risk. Shape Strategy. Enable Growth.

The best Chief Risk Officers don't simply protect organizations; they help them move forward with confidence.

Enrichment Federal Credit Union is seeking a strategic and collaborative Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to join its executive leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO, this executive will shape the credit union's enterprise risk strategy while partnering with leaders across the organization to ensure risk management supports innovation, operational excellence, and long-term growth. This executive will be expected to serve as both a strategic risk leader and a trusted business partner, bringing a deep understanding of how a credit union operates to support sound decision-making across the enterprise.

This is an opportunity to build upon a strong foundation while influencing enterprise-wide decisions at the highest level. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and the Board, balancing thoughtful governance with practical business partnership.

The Opportunity

As Chief Risk Officer, you will oversee the credit union's Enterprise Risk Management program and provide executive leadership across operational, regulatory, compliance, cybersecurity, fraud, third-party, reputational, liquidity, and strategic risk. Rather than operating as a gatekeeper, you'll help the organization make informed decisions that protect members while enabling continued growth.

This role extends beyond traditional risk management. The ideal candidate will bring an enterprise-wide perspective and a strong understanding of how a credit union operates, partnering across departments to ensure risk management supports sound business decisions and organizational success.

Key areas of leadership include:
  • Advancing the enterprise risk management framework and governance practices
  • Partnering with the CEO, executive team, and Board to align risk strategy with organizational priorities
  • Leading enterprise compliance, regulatory examinations, and audit activities
  • Providing independent oversight of cybersecurity, operational resilience, business continuity, fraud, and third-party risk
  • Strengthening a culture where risk awareness is embedded into everyday decision-making across the organization
Ideal candidates will bring:
  • 10+ years of Senior Level credit union experience
  • Knowledge of federal credit union laws and regulations, with the ability to interpret requirements, conduct research, and provide practical compliance guidance and solutions
  • Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of credit union operations and the ability to assess enterprise risk within the context of the organization's strategic and operational objectives.
  • A broad understanding of credit union operations and the ability to apply an enterprise-wide perspective to risk management
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk, compliance/BSA, and ALM/IRR; familiarity with operational and cyber risk
  • Experience with NCUA exams, credit union audits, and Board reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field required
Why Enrichment Federal Credit Union?

For more than 75 years, Enrichment Federal Credit Union has been committed to helping people build stronger financial futures. Today, the credit union serves nearly 50,000 members across East Tennessee and continues to invest in the communities it serves through volunteerism, financial education, and community partnerships.

Enrichment believes risk management is most effective when it is collaborative, forward-thinking, and aligned with its mission to enrich members' lives. As Chief Risk Officer, you'll have a seat at the executive table, an opportunity to influence enterprise strategy, and the ability to make a lasting impact on the organization and the members it serves.

Compensation

$175,000–$200,000, depending on experience, and additional executive incentives.
