Summary

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for preparing and posting journal entries, investments accounting, fixed assets, prepaids, performing other account analysis and reconciliations, tracking accounts receivable and invoicing business partners, audit assistance, internal control maintenance and assisting with the Bank’s regulatory filings, reporting and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily liquidity monitoring, settlement and bank account reconciliations, including the Bank’s Fed account and correspondent bank accounts.
  • Prepares and sends liquidity-related wires and prepares related daily journal entries.
  • Prepares and submits monthly and quarterly invoices to the Bank’s business partners.
  • Coordinates with internal and external business partners on billing questions and issues.
  • Transfers funds and applies payments to A/R.
  • Prepares daily general accounting entries and daily, weekly and monthly recons, and several month-end close entries as assigned.
  • Performs balance sheet reconciliations including the timely research and resolution of outstanding items.
  • Cross trains and acts as backup to other members of the accounting team, including support of accounts payable and daily reconciliations.
  • Aids in the preparation and review of the monthly variance analysis.
  • Assists with and supports the timely and accurate preparation of various financial and regulatory reporting, including monthly financials, annual financial statements, regulatory reporting (Call Report, Y9SP, PDPA, and QCD), sales/use tax returns, property tax/personal tax and 1099 reporting.
  • Prepares entries and reconciles the Bank’s investment portfolio to external Bondkeeper and Safekeepers.
  • Prepares entries and reconciles the Bank’s fixed assets and prepaid assets to subledgers.
  • Assists in compiling support for the Bank’s tax accountants quarterly tax review.
  • Verifies and records stock-based compensation entries.
  • Assists in ensuring the documented system of internal controls, accounting policies and procedures are operating effectively.
  • Assists in internal and external audits and other regulatory exams.
  • Supports Management in completing special projects, ad hoc reporting and analysis requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance required.
  • CPA License preferred.
  • 3-4 years of progressively responsible and relative experience required (mix of public and private preferred).
  • Previous Banking or Financial Services preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of computer operating systems. Strong Excel skills required.
  • Strong organizational time management skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to grasp concepts and processes.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with the ability to interact well, and in a positive manner, with co-workers and management. Ability to multi-task and work autonomously in a fast paced, diverse and growth-oriented environment while being detail oriented.
