Material Handler III 

2 workers for 3rd shift - (12am - 8am) 

MUST HAVE GOOD SAP EXPERIENCE 

MUST HAVE GOOD SHIPPING & RECEIVING OR INVENTORY EXPERIENCE 

SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, performs a variety of shipping and receiving activities involving incoming and outgoing shipments. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. Inputs all shipment information into ERP computer system.

2. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.

3. Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes and rates. Makes carrier arrangements when necessary.

4. Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment.

5. Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.

6. Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers and protective padding.

7. Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape, using strapping machine.

8. Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.

9. Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items/goods, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

10. Participates in physical inventories and inventory reconciliation exercises to meet overall inventory accuracy goals

11. Routes items to various internal departments and kanban areas for manufacturing projects.

12. Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.

13. Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.

14. May operate tier-lift truck or use hand-truck to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

15. Other duties may be assigned by management to meet business needs.


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

1. High school diploma or GED. Prior production and inventory control experience helpful.

2. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.

3. Calculate surface, volumes, weights and dimensions of packaged equipment or components.

4. Ability to learn and follow defined departmental policies, procedures and practices.

5. Must be able to make decision with regards to completion of tasks and job methods and follow through with results of outcome. 

6. Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

7. Must be able to interact and communicate with internal customers. Internal customers may include production, engineers, and management personnel.

8. Ability to prioritize workload and shift work activities in order to meet business needs and department goals, essential.

9. Must be able to independently arrange and organize work efforts on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. Must be able to meet tight deadlines. Ability to multi-task on a consistent basis.

10. Ability to make recommendations regarding job methods and departmental procedures.

11. Must be familiar with ERP systems. SAP knowledge a plus.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle and/or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl in performing assignments.

2. Ability to lift packages/shipments weighing on average between 20 to 50 pounds.

3. Must be able to use telephone, computer, monitor, mouse/track ball, and keyboard for limited periods of time.

4. Must be able to attend work on a daily basis in a regular and timely manner.

5. Extended hours or overtime maybe required on occasion.
