Overview:
Baldor Specialty Foods is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Sales to lead the continued growth and evolution in one of our fastest growing geographies. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer, this role is responsible for building and executing a comprehensive sales strategy that drives significant growth, strengthens customer relationships, increases market penetration, and enhances customer experience across all segments.
As Baldor continues to grow as a leading food distribution partner across produce, protein, dairy, pantry, specialty foods, and value-added solutions, the Director will play a critical role in aligning the sales team with market opportunities, deepening customer partnerships, and leading scalable sales initiatives. Building upon Baldor's strong sales culture, this leader will develop talent, drive accountability, and foster a high-performance environment focused on customer success and profitable growth. The ideal candidate brings a blend of commercial leadership, strategic thinking, and passion for food to strengthen Baldor's position as the partner of choice for chefs, restaurants, retailers, and foodservice operators.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership and Growth
  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive food service sales strategy across all customer segments and regions.
  • Define and manage sales targets, territory plans, and customer acquisition goals to achieve sustained revenue growth.
  • Identify new business opportunities, evaluate market trends, and support geographic and segment expansion.
  • Utilize customer insights, sales performance data, and market intelligence to guide strategy and prioritize key initiatives.

Cross-Functional and Customer Collaboration
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Sales, Marketing, Merchandising, and Procurement to align objectives and execution.
  • Collaborate with key accounts and culinary partners to understand evolving needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Work closely with Operations and Customer Service to ensure excellence in fulfillment, service levels, and customer satisfaction.
  • Guide product onboarding and promotional execution specific to foodservice offerings and programs.

Sales Enablement and Channel Optimization
  • Equip the sales team with tools, insights, and narratives that enhance selling effectiveness
  • Support adoption of category strategies and new product launches through training, demos, and field engagement.
  • Participate in major account planning, customer meetings, and negotiations to drive strategic wins and deepen relationships.
  • Optimize sales coverage, workflows, and customer segmentation for improved efficiency and impact.

Customer and Market Intelligence
  • Leverage data, industry trends, and competitor insights to shape short- and long-term sales strategies.
  • Analyze account performance, pricing dynamics, and customer behavior to inform sales tactics and improve margins.
  • Monitor external market conditions to identify growth opportunities and mitigate risks.

Team Leadership and Talent Development
  • Build and lead a high-performing sales team, including Regional Sales Managers, Sales Executives, and support roles.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance guidance to foster professional development and team success.
  • Champion a collaborative, customer-first culture rooted in accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with HR and executive leadership to recruit, retain, and develop top sales talent aligned with company values.

Requirements
  • 10+ years of sales leadership experience in large scale foodservice distribution, managing teams across multiple regions and channels.
  • Proven ability to drive profitable growth and lead high performing sales organizations.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and business intelligence skills.
  • Experience leading cross functional initiatives across Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance.
  • Strategic thinker with a customer focused approach to identifying and capturing market opportunities.
  • Passion for food, hospitality, and delivering value to customers.
  • Self motivated leader with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and leading change effectively.
  • Proficient with project management and collaboration tools including JIRA and Confluence.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
