As a multi-discipline engineering firm, Bala is a leader in innovative designs for building systems in High Rise, Mission Critical, Multi-Unit Housing, Commercial Office, Higher Education, Transportation, Adaptive Reuse and Life Science facilities.

This position will place a successful candidate into a team of industry leading on-site commissioning/QA/QC mechanical systems testing engineers who provide technical oversight of mechanical systems / equipment. The first project will require being on site in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Oversight includes but is not limited to, mechanical system(s) upgrades in existing facilities and new mechanical systems testing (new construction) for fortune 500 companies throughout the U.S. Projects include data centers, trading floors, broadcast facilities, high rise infrastructure and high-end offices. Scope typically includes Air cooled, water cooled or DX Chiller Plants, CRAH’s and BMS controls systems. It also includes predictive preventative maintenance program planning and execution, and systemic and component troubleshooting throughout the commissioning process.

Qualifications :

  • BS Engineering (or similar qualification)
  • Mid-level commissioning engineer (7+ years experience)
  • Must be willing to travel across the U.S. for extended periods of time required to support project construction schedules and be willing to work various hours (days, night and weekends)
  • Hands on experience with mechanical equipment testing is a must
  • EIT/PE/CPMP a plus
  • Military background in mechanical system’s operation and repair a plus.
  • Hardworking and well-motivated engineer with the desire to learn and solve problems
  • Proficient technical writing skills (proposals, test scripts and reports) and communication skills
  • Ability to work in office and client sites (new construction and existing facilities) with driver’s license
  • Background check & drug screening may be required by client for onsite projects

Job Description:

  • Perform commissioning and/or QA/QC testing oversight of mechanical equipment.
  • Manage Commissioning and Testing Projects (client, internal team and project financials)
  • Lead projects and write proposals, test scripts and reports
  • Mentor and train other Commissioning team members
  • Coordinate invoicing with Accounting Department
  • Attend conferences and networking events periodically
  • National travel needed as necessary to complete Commissioning & Testing activities at client sites with reimbursement of expenses for travel/ lodging/car rental/meals.
