Overview

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor provides hands-on leadership over a production shift within the plant to ensure that production directives are met safely and on time, within a fast-paced food production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on leadership over a production shift within the plant to ensure production schedules are met safely and on time in a fast-paced food production environment.
  • Lead by example and foster an environment of mutual respect and teamwork among team members.
  • Hold pre-shift meetings and provide feedback to Team Leaders and Production Manager.
  • Be responsible for leading the production team on one or more production lines.
  • Ensure that production schedules are met and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Coordinate schedules, products and labor of different departments to ensure production runs smoothly in the factory.
  • Verify that appropriate methods and procedures are used and that quality, safety and environmental standards are respected.
  • Lead, mentor and train other team members as needed.
  • Ensure a safe working environment is maintained at all times by enforcing company standards and conducting regular inspections.
  • Use the SAP system to record all production information and help achieve production goals.
  • Assist other supervisors in ensuring that key performance indicators are achieved daily.
  • Follow and apply all good manufacturing practices and safety procedures.
  • Other responsibilities may be added to better meet business needs.

Requirements

  • University or college degree in a related field.
  • Proven leadership ability; ability to interact easily with others and lead and motivate a team to meet established deadline requirements.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, and ability to detect the presence of a quality problem.
  • Excellent relational, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision or distraction.
  • Flexibility to work days, afternoons, nights and weekends as needed.
  • Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices, risk analysis and critical control points and the Health and Safety at Work Act, an asset.
