Job description

Overview

Prepares baked goods according to recipes and production specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Bake breads, pies, cakes, cookies, other pastries, and baked goods as necessary per the provided production and catering sheets, as well as assist in production planning to meet daily requirements.
  • Ensures proper food preparation by utilizing approved recipes, following prescribed production standards, and use of proper equipment
  • Assists with the completion of production records to include waste tracking, used, and unused portions and shortages of product.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper presentation, food quality, portion control, and maintenance of proper serving temperatures.
  • Maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area.
  • Consistently exhibits the ability to keep up with peak production and service calmly, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Checks to ensure that all food is presented, served, and displayed per standards.
  • Completes shift work, as assigned, in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with department standards.
  • DCH Standards:

    • Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
    • Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook
    • Must adhere to the DCH Behavioral Standards including creating positive relationships with patients/families, coworkers, colleagues and with self.

    • Identifies and reduces unsafe practices that may result in harm to patients, visitors and employees.
    • Recognizes and takes appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards to promote safety for patients, visitors and employees.
    • Requires use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software and intranet.
    • Must adhere to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
    • All other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications

    High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred; or 1-3 years of experience in a large volume or commercial bakery; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English. 

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

    PHYSICAL FACTORS

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk or hear, and taste or smell.
    • The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
    • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/ or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Must be able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.
    • Physical presence onsite is essential.
