Packaging Machine Operator - Monday - Friday 11:00pm - 7:00am

As the Packaging Machine Operator, you will be responsible for the operation of the Bagger, Scale, Case Erector and Cartoner machines. You'll oversee the performance of the Bagger line and perform all jobs throughout the packaging line to provide direction and support to team members. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Set up and operate a packaging machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines; operate the Production Management System with lead times of 5-12 people
  • Supply the scale with intermediate components and bagging materials (film) to keep the machine running properly
  • Operate the bagging machine with minimal waste to finished products and packaging materials
  • Perform quality assurance checks throughout the day, inspecting for packaging defects, material defects and quality
  • Troubleshoot machinery breakdowns, clean machine jams and align rolls of bagging materials to minimize downtime and promote productivity; assist mechanic with more complex machinery breakdowns and repairs
  • Conduct periodic adjustments on the bagging machine and scale to ensure peak performance efficiency
  • Document inventory numbers/weights on products and organize packages; provide hourly count reports of production and downtime 
  • Complete general housekeeping duties around the machine, such as sweeping floors and cleaning machine parts, supply tables, rework tables, etc.
  • Fill, secure and label containers according to company and/or customer specifications
  • Adjust machine settings to complete tasks accurately in a timely fashion, according to specifications; make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed

What you need to succeed at GXO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Experience measuring for proper alignment requirements using a ruler
  • The ability to speak, read (fine print) and write in English, follow verbal and written directions, write simple correspondence and effectively communicate with others
  • To successfully meet all background check requirements

It'd be great if you also have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Machine operator experience
  • Knowledge of and experience operating a bagging machine and producing a quality product in a team-based environment
  • The willingness to cross-train to operate different styles of bagging machines

This job requires the ability to:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Work in a warehouse environment that is not climate controlled 
  • Safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat and kneel
