The Position

Job Summary
Position Title: Bagger
Reports to (Position): Plant Supervisor
C. NATURE OF POSITION
Purpose: Fulfill requested bag orders to meet customer specifications and requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1 Received instructions from Warehouse Lead Operator.
2. Determines operating condition of bagging process equipment, i.e. feed systems, dust collectors, conveyor systems, vacuum pumps, printers, stencils, scales, check scales, and forklifts.
3. Determines operating condition of bagging materials for use, i.e. bags, pallets, inks, glues,
and wraps.
4. Conducts Area Shift Inspections according to Work Instructions.
5. Conducts Forklift Inspection.
6. Maintains a clean and safe work area.
7. Follows all company Railroad Safety Rules and Guidelines.
8. Records all process information on Bagger Report, Bagger Weight Sheet, and Forklift
Inspection Checklist.
9. Operates the process according to Work Instructions.
10. Produces orders according to customer requirements listed on Master Shipping Sheets, i.e. bag type and quantity, pallet type and quantity, stacking pattern, and bag markings.
11. Assigns lot numbers according to Work Instructions.
12. Collects lot samples for quality testing according to Work Instructions.
13. Identifies and label lots and orders with appropriate test status sticker.
14. Wears appropriate personal safety protection.
15. Performs other duties assigned by Packing and Shipping Coordinator or designee.
Quality Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Is empowered to perform duties as defined in the description to provided a service that meets the
quality standard.
2. Is accountable for the Quality of the service this position provides.
3. Reports to supervisor, takes corrective action, and alerts the appropriate person(s) when quality standards are not met and are outside of this position's control.
4. Does not compromise quality and safety for quantity.
Measurements Performed/Tools & Gauges: Bag weight/Scales
Machines & Equipment Involved: Forklift, big bagger
Working Conditions: Requires rotating shift work and some overtime. Works mostly in plant
environment. Duties split between indoor and outdoor work causing exposure to seasonal temperature variations.
Requires climbing to heights of 30 feet, works around moving machinery and on slippery surfaces. Exposed to noise >85 dB, fumes, chemicals, and allergens.
D. QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Able to read, write, and do basic math at high school or equivalent level.
Experience - (Preferred Background): Previous work experience. Qualified trainer will teach big bagger operating procedures and work instructions.
Skills Requirement: Able to understand written and verbal instructions and listen attentively; clearly describe conditions orally or in writing; understand, compare, and analyze instrument and chart readings; analyze and resolve minor process problems; set-up, manipulate and tend equipment and/or machinery; operate motorized vehicles; have a valid driver's permit.
Required Activities: Constantly required to stand, walk and handle objects. Some climbing is required when getting into the forklift. Performed at a constant pace, in some instances a rapid pace is required. The majority of the time the pace in moderate. Occasionally some lifting takes place, up to 50 lbs. Good balance may be required due to slippery conditions in the bag house. Good dexterity is also needed in order to properly hook and close big bags.
