The Opportunity

Hitachi Energy is looking for a Head of Contract Management for Hub North America within our Grid Automation Business Unit. In this role, you will provide contractual leadership across the full contract lifecycle, supporting activities from tendering and contract negotiation through project execution, claims management, dispute resolution, and contract closeout. You will work closely with teams across Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, Risk Management, Legal, Finance, Engineering, and other functions to help deliver successful outcomes for complex energy, infrastructure, software, digital, and data center projects. Your work will help ensure that contractual frameworks support effective project delivery, operational efficiency, responsible risk allocation, and sustainable business growth. This is an opportunity to influence how contracts are managed across a large regional business while helping strengthen the processes, capabilities, and practices that support reliable project execution and long-term customer success. You will also contribute to the continued development of Contract Management capabilities across the Hub through training, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Develop and implement the Contract Management strategy for Hub North America in alignment with business priorities and corporate goals.
  • Lead the Contract Management organization and oversee the consistent application of contract and claim management methodologies, policies, and procedures.
  • Review contractual and commercial tender documentation to identify obligations, risks, and opportunities that support effective project execution.
  • Support tendering and sales activities by helping develop commercially sustainable and contractually compliant proposals.
  • Negotiate and manage contractual arrangements with customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners to achieve balanced commercial outcomes.
  • Identify, assess, document, and mitigate contractual, commercial, and financial risks throughout the contract lifecycle.
  • Provide Contract Management support during project execution, including claims, changes, variations, contractual obligations, and dispute resolution activities.
  • Coach and develop Contract Management professionals while promoting knowledge sharing, standardization, and continuous improvement across the Hub.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • University degree in Law or equivalent qualification combined with relevant professional experience; legal education or a professional legal background is preferred.
  • More than seven years of relevant professional experience as a Contract Manager, legal counsel, legal advisor, or in a comparable contractual and commercial role.
  • Extensive experience in Contract Management during tendering and project execution, preferably involving complex technology, energy, infrastructure, engineering, EPC, or industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and administering complex commercial contracts.
  • Knowledge of contract strategy, contractual risk allocation, change management, claims management, dispute resolution, and contract-related legal matters.
  • Ability to provide practical guidance on complex contractual matters, supported by excellent negotiation, communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
