Summary
Responsible for leading the creation, design, development and implementation of innovative database and or backend solutions for assigned area of responsibility; coordinate with other internal departments to ensure customer requests integrate and deploy as scheduled; ensure the quick implementation of mass data change requests and complex report/data extraction requests making sure the impact on existing applications is adequately analyzed and evaluated; lead the design and development of test codes for data conversions.
Location
This role will be based in our Woburn, MA office, located at 130 New Boston Street and offers in-person collaboration and flexibility to work from home.
What Part You Will Play in Our Growth
Database Developing Functions - Leading the creation, design, development and implementation of innovative database or backend solutions for assigned area of responsibility in accordance to departmental and Company guidelines and timeframes
  • Coordinate with other internal departments to ensure customer requests integrate and deploy as scheduled
  • Ensure the quick implementation of mass data change requests and complex report/data extraction requests making sure the impact on existing applications is adequately analysed and evaluated
  • Lead the design and development of test codes for data conversions
  • Enter codes to create development database, reviewing application design specifications and database access methods to prevent inefficient coding techniques
  • Resolve application support tickets escalated to employee's level ensuring appropriate resolution of issues in a timely manner
  • Write and assist departmental staff with technical system programs to provide specialized database access

Data Support - Ensure data is protected according to departmental policies and procedures and is retrievable in a timely manner, auditing back up rotation to ensure adherence to established standards
  • Establish periodic schedules to test validity of backups and ability to perform restores
  • Establish query standards for accessing databases of different sizes, selecting and upgrading recommended attributes
  • Provide tuning and performance of the database environment by monitoring optimum values for database parameters
  • Develop scripts, documentation, and procedures for database administration, testing, and production

Problem Resolution - Proactively oversee the activities involved in quality resolution of problems related to area of responsibility
  • Respond with a sense of urgency to problems escalated to employee's level
  • Escalate to supervisor any situation outside the employee's control that could adversely impact the services being provided
  • Provide analysis and feedback to management staff and appropriate departments regarding recurring problems, recommending improvements aimed at reducing future occurrences of problems
  • Participate in creating, administering, and continuously updating procedures for resolution of all related issues

Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Education
    • Bachelor's degree with major course work in computer science, MIS, or a related field is required. Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements Experience
    • Minimum three years' experience developing and maintaining databases required
  • Experience
    • Core Database Administration Knowledge: Performance tuning, data modeling and architecture, security and compliance, HA/DR, Cloud and infrastructure, observability
    • Proficient in at least one RDBMS (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle)
    • Experience with Cloud-native DB features, serverless SQL, auto-scaling considerations
    • SQL stored procedures and triggers
    • Relation database modeling for OLPT
    • Database user management and security
    • Database installation, configuration, connectivity, monitoring and fine tuning
    • T-SQL / PL/SQL / PL/pgSQL proficiency, ability to script deployments
    • Version control in Git workflow, all DB changes in source control

Compensation
Our salary range for this role is $135,000 - $150,000 and is commensurate with experience, skills and location.
