Job description

Job Summary:
WHOOP is a company focused on unlocking human performance and healthspan through its enterprise platform. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to evolve the Enterprise platform by building core systems, shaping technical direction, and ensuring a scalable enterprise product.
Responsibilities:
• Own and evolve foundational systems for WHOOP Enterprise, starting with Enterprise APIs, authentication, and account management
• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that support enterprise use cases and external integrations
• Collaborate closely with design, analytics, and engineering partners to translate ambiguous product needs into scalable technical solutions
• Define and influence technical direction, system architecture, and implementation standards for the Enterprise platform
• Build systems with a strong emphasis on security, privacy, reliability, and correctness, appropriate for enterprise customers
• Develop and maintain observability, monitoring, and operational practices to ensure system stability
• Consistently deliver high-quality, well-tested code following best practices in software design and development
• Help establish engineering foundations that scale, including documentation, patterns, and mentorship as the team grows
Qualifications:
Required:
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a strong foundation in backend development
• Experience building and owning production backend systems and RESTful APIs (Java preferred)
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and identity or account management concepts
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• Experience designing and operating services in cloud environments (AWS)
• Comfort working across the stack, including contributing to web applications leveraging AI tools (e.g., React), even if backend is your primary strength
• Strong system design skills, with experience building scalable, reliable, and maintainable software
• Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, high-ambiguity environments with minimal product process
• Strong independent problem-solving skills and a sense of ownership over outcomes
• Clear communicator who collaborates well across disciplines and can articulate technical tradeoffs
• Builder mindset with interest in helping shape and scale a platform and team over time
