The Role


This is an opportunity for an experienced backend developer to lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable web applications and integrations. Working alongside designers, UX specialists, product owners, and fellow developers, the successful candidate will build robust PHP-based solutions, architect API-driven systems, mentor team members, and help shape development best practices. This role also embraces AI and automation to improve efficiency while maintaining accountability for code quality and technical excellence.


Responsibilities


  • Design, develop, maintain, and optimize enterprise web applications using PHP and CMS platforms such as WordPress.
  • Build and integrate REST, GraphQL, SOAP, and webhook-based APIs.
  • Develop headless CMS and API-first architectures.
  • Write clean, reusable, well-tested code that meets established quality standards.
  • Utilize AI and automation tools to improve development workflows and accelerate delivery.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative digital solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and architectural guidance to developers.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and recommend scalable solutions.
  • Identify project risks, communicate progress, and contribute to Agile Scrum ceremonies.

Requirements


  • 6+ years of professional PHP development experience.
  • 4+ years designing API-driven and headless CMS solutions.
  • Strong experience with REST, GraphQL, SOAP, web services, and system integrations.
  • Advanced knowledge of MySQL and database optimization.
  • Experience architecting scalable software solutions and integration patterns.
  • Proficiency with Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter, or similar PHP frameworks.
  • Experience with Git, unit testing, CI practices, and Agile development.
  • Strong understanding of AI-assisted development, automation tools, and workflow platforms.
  • Knowledge of web security, WCAG standards, and modern software design principles.
