Health Science Technology Teacher
The position of a Health Science Technology Teacher will be available at East Central ISD for the 2026-2027 school year. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website.The deadline for submitting an application is 4:00 pm., May 17, 2026, or until the position is filled.
POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
  2. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  3. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  4. Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflects an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
  5. Conducts assessment of student learning styles and uses to plan instructional activities.
  6. Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  7. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aides(s) and volunteer(s).
  8. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
  9. Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  10. Conducts ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  11. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  12. HOSA club sponsor.
  13. Be a positive role model for students, support the mission of the school district.
  14. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
  15. Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  16. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  17. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  18. Establishes and maintains open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
  19. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  20. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  21. Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  22. Keeps informed of and complies with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  23. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  24. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  25. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with Vocational Health Occupation or Health Science Technology or eligible to be accepted in an alternative teacher certification program
Valid Registered Nurse (RN) Preferred
Valid Texas driver license with a driving record that meets the requirements of the district
EQUIPMENT USED: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; [P.E. Teachers: automated external defibrillator (AED)]
WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress; work with frequent interruptions. Work prolonged or irregular hours. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Work inside may work outside; regular exposure to noise. May be required to lift and position students with physical disabilities; control behavior through physical restraint, and assist non-ambulatory students. Exposure to biological hazards.
