Summary:

A-1 Electrical Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced and results-driven Electrical Engineering Managerto lead our engineering and BIM departments and oversee all technical operations. This role combines engineering expertise with leadership, business development, client relationship management, and cross-department coordination. The Engineering Manager will ensure technical excellence, manage personnel, oversee BIM and engineering workflows, and drive growth by developing, selling, and managing engineering design fees with clients.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer with a strong background in commercial electrical systems, proven leadership skills, and experience managing complex projects, high-performing teams, and client-facing responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of electrical engineers, CAD designers, BIM personnel, and technical staff.
  • Direct and grow the BIM department, ensuring integration of models into engineering and construction workflows.
  • Assign project tasks, monitor performance, and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Define departmental goals and KPIs aligned with company strategy.
  • Oversee the design of commercial electrical systems including:
    • Lighting
    • Power distribution
    • Switchgear
    • Fire alarm and low voltage systems
  • Review and approve electrical drawings, calculations, BIM models, and submittals for compliance with NEC, local codes, and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, prefabrication teams,and field supervisors to ensure constructability, cost efficiency, and design feasibility.
  • Manage department budgets, software tools, and resource allocations.
  • Track project milestones, engineering deliverables, BIM coordination, and design timelines.
  • Participate in design-build and preconstruction meetings to review scope, concepts, and value-engineering opportunities.
  • Provide technical support to estimating and business development teams during bid phases.
  • Develop and present engineering design proposals to clients, including pricing and fee structures.
  • Drive sales for engineering design services and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ensure all designs and models meet NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and local code requirements.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
  • Louisiana PE License(required)
  • Experience with design-build and fast-track commercial construction projects
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM software, and electrical modeling tools (e.g., SKM, ETAP)
  • Strong technical knowledge of power distribution, lighting, grounding, controls, and fire alarm systems
  • Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and sell engineering/design services
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
