DESCRIPTION
Well established, industry leading Manufacturer and Distributor has open position for a Staff Accountant at our corporate headquarters in DFW. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining general ledger activities, ensure all entries are up to date through reconciliations of the bank accounts, balance sheet accounts and income statements. Preparation of month end reporting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains the general ledger.
- Analysis and reconciliation of bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with the annual electronic filing of 1099's.
- Assist Accounting manager with the review and track approved Capital projects, assets and depreciation.
- Back up with the daily sales reporting.
- Responsible for the month end close with the Accounting Manager, with preparation and execution of necessary processes within JD Edwards accounting system and monthly reporting and reconciliations.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
Experience & Knowledge:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with 2+ years of related experience required.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities across all level of an organization.
- Proactive, self-starter with good judgment and ability to work unsupervised.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with financial software ERPs.
- Experience with JD Edwards is a strong plus.
