Group you’ll be a part of

The Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.

The impact you’ll make

As a Solution Architect at Lam, you will be at the forefront of innovation by designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs. Your role is pivotal in developing software tools that support design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. Your expertise will determine hardware compatibility and influence design, ensuring seamless integration between software and hardware.In this role, you’ll make an impact across Lam’s entire product portfolio of equipment working within our centralized software engineering team, collaborating with some of the brightest minds in the industry. The successful candidate will be a technical team leader supporting multiple programs reporting to the Engineering Director. Candidate will work with multiple teams of full time and consultant developers and QA engineers to develop a set of systems utilizing technologies related to mobile device UI, data transfer services, back-end software infrastructure, a reporting and analytics engine, and various parsers. Candidate will own the system design from initial implementation through long-term sustaining ownership, release, and will be responsible for keeping the applications current with periodic releases.

What you’ll do
  • Demonstrate, clearly communicate, and present solutions through clear documentation, flowcharts, and well-structured code.
  • Drive systems design and development across multiple teams to create and maintain a holistic set of systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work & lead in an agile perspective for all SW development & commit to fast release schedule.
  • Must be able to lead and work effectively in small to medium sized teams (<10 core team individuals>).
  • Conduct regular code reviews & provide assurance that all modules fit to proposed architecture & meet rigorous code review standards.
  • Familiarity with and ability to implement test-driven-development methodologies.
  • Commitment to long-term sustaining application ownership.
  • Ability to conduct R&D and PoC's.
  • Takes ownership of and ability to delegate assigned tasks with responsibilities.
  • Institutes and participates in corrective actions to ensure closure / resolution.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring for more junior engineers.
  • May visit customer site to provide support and have ability to travel (total is less than 10%).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering with 12+ years of experience; or Master’s degree with 8+ years’ experience; or a PhD with 5+ years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Object-Oriented Software (OOS), Object Oriented Design (OOD), or Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) implementation and design, including Design Patterns and Finite State Machines.
  • >5 years leading system design on multiple development teams.
  • >8 years’ experience in systems design and development.
  • 3-5 years of experience in SQL/No-SQL (MongoDB or SQL Server or MySQL).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills required.
  • Azure DevOps & JIRA experience required.
  • Knowledge of multithreading, including preemptive thread scheduling.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in scripting is plus (PowerShell or similar).
  • Able to provide examples of systems designed/developed.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $141,000.00 - $307,000.00.The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
