How much do azure iam jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 18, 2026, the average hourly pay for azure iam in the United States is $58.40, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $52.88 and $65.62 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is the Azure equivalent of IAM?

Azure Identity and Access Management (IAM) is implemented through Azure Active Directory (Azure AD), which manages user identities, roles, and permissions across Azure resources. Azure AD provides tools for authentication, authorization, and access control, similar to traditional IAM systems used in other environments. Job roles like Azure IAM specialists often require knowledge of Azure AD, security best practices, and cloud access management tools.

Does Azure have IAM roles?

Azure Identity and Access Management (IAM) provides role-based access control (RBAC) that allows assigning specific roles to users, groups, and applications to manage permissions for Azure resources. These roles define what actions are permitted and help ensure secure access management within Azure environments. Azure IAM roles are essential for implementing least privilege principles and maintaining security compliance.

What pays more, AWS or Azure?

For Azure IAM professionals, salary comparisons show that AWS roles tend to pay slightly more on average due to higher demand and broader market adoption. However, compensation varies based on experience, certifications, and geographic location, with both cloud platforms offering competitive salaries for skilled cloud security and identity management specialists.

What are the typical day-to-day responsibilities of an Azure IAM professional?

As an Azure IAM professional, your daily tasks often include configuring user roles and permissions, monitoring access logs for suspicious activity, and maintaining security policies in Azure Active Directory. You will regularly collaborate with IT security teams, application owners, and auditors to ensure adherence to compliance standards and respond to security incidents. Additionally, you may handle onboarding and offboarding processes, troubleshoot access issues, and participate in projects to enhance identity governance. This role is dynamic and requires both proactive security management and responsive problem-solving.

Are IAM jobs in demand?

IAM (Identity and Access Management) jobs are in high demand due to increasing cybersecurity concerns and the need for secure access controls. Professionals with skills in cloud platforms like Azure, certifications such as CISSP or CompTIA Security+, and experience with access management tools are particularly sought after in the job market.

What is an Azure IAM job?

An Azure IAM (Identity and Access Management) job involves managing and securing user identities, permissions, and access within Microsoft Azure. Professionals in this role configure authentication, enforce security policies, and ensure compliance with access control best practices. They work with Azure Active Directory (AAD), role-based access control (RBAC), and conditional access policies to protect enterprise resources. The job often requires expertise in security best practices, governance, and identity lifecycle management.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Azure Iam position, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Azure IAM (Identity and Access Management) professional, you need a strong understanding of cloud security principles, directory services, access control models, and Azure Active Directory. Familiarity with Microsoft Azure security tools, PowerShell scripting, and relevant certifications like Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate are highly valued. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication are essential soft skills for this role. These capabilities ensure secure deployment and management of user access, reducing risk and maintaining compliance within cloud environments.
