We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to support critical data environments for a company in the gas industry in Madison, Wisconsin. This is an onsite contract-to-permanent opportunity suited for a detail-oriented candidate who can manage database reliability, strengthen performance, and help maintain secure, efficient systems. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across SQL-based platforms and can work closely with technical teams to keep database operations stable and scalable.
Responsibilities:
• Administer and maintain database platforms to support day-to-day business operations and long-term system reliability.
• Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues, and resolve performance bottlenecks to improve availability and response times.
• Optimize queries, indexing strategies, and server configurations across Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and MySQL environments.
• Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to safeguard data and minimize operational risk.
• Partner with application and infrastructure teams to support deployments, database changes, and production stability.
• Enforce database security standards, access controls, and maintenance practices to protect sensitive information.
• Analyze system behavior and recommend improvements that enhance scalability, efficiency, and overall database performance.
• Assist with database-related upgrades, enhancements, and environment changes as business needs evolve.• 7+ years of experience working as a Database Administrator in enterprise or mid-sized production environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise with Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SQL technologies.
• Experience supporting Azure SQL Database in a live operational setting.
