Job description

Job Summary:
Axon is dedicated to improving public safety and justice through innovative technology. They are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead network projects, ensuring the highest level of service for emergency call centers and first responders. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining complex network solutions to support critical services.
Responsibilities:
• Lead network projects, including network establishment, upgrades, expansions, and migrations.
• Configure and maintain Fortinet Firewalls, Cisco switches, and routers, among other networking equipment and ensure network security by implementing best practices and conducting regular security audits.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability and perform production system upgrades, as well as debug sessions independently in a mission-critical live system.
• Thrive in a high-activity/fast-paced environment, effectively managing multiple tasks and shifting priorities and resolve complex problems independently, leveraging data analytics and troubleshooting skills.
• Collaborate with vendors and service providers to build and resolve network-related challenges.
• Perform network infrastructure deployments leveraging IaC tools and pipelines.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience as a network engineer or equivalent in critical service industries with a focus on designing and implementing complex network solutions.
• Strong experience with AWS VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Ingress/Egress architectures, Route 53
• In-depth knowledge of planning, designing, implementing, and operating an Enterprise IT network environment and data center network.
• Hands-on configuration and operational knowledge of Fortinet Firewalls, SD-WAN infrastructure, Cisco switches, and routers.
• Strong experience troubleshooting private and public transport connectivity with a keen ability to identify issues affecting production systems
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPN, and DNS.
• Experience building and designing rack/cabinet/cage construction for highly available and resilient network infrastructure.
• Proven expertise in SD-WAN planning, design, implementation, and operations encompassing multi-site deployments
• Knowledge and experience in network monitoring and optimization tools. Ability to quickly identify issues affecting voice and video quality
• Ability to debug production systems and perform deep-level packet capture analysis independently in mission-critical systems
• Comfortable working with data analytics and resolving complex problems independently.
• Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Ability to thrive in a high-activity/fast-paced environment, handling ambiguity and shifting priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Working experience with IaC tools including Terragrunt, Terraform, Ansible, or Python
• Working experience with Git and DevOps tools including Visual Studio Code, BitBucket, Jenkins, GitLab, or equivalents
