Job description

AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join a dynamic team supporting cloud migration and infrastructure solutions for a Randstad client in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of IT experience, including 3+ years of hands-on AWS Cloud Administration expertise. This role requires broad knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, and applications, with a strong focus on designing, implementing, and optimizing AWS cloud solutions. The AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will collaborate with stakeholders to develop cloud migration strategies, ensure successful execution, and implement best practices for architecture, security, and performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer AWS cloud infrastructure components, including servers, storage, networking, and security.
  • Perform installation, configuration, and management of Windows and RHEL servers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand technical requirements, business goals, and migration constraints.
  • Develop and execute cloud migration strategies (e.g., lift-and-shift, refactoring) for on-premises or legacy systems.
  • Assess existing infrastructure to identify migration readiness, bottlenecks, and dependencies.
  • Implement cloud best practices for architecture, security, networking, and disaster recovery.
  • Optimize existing AWS environments for performance, cost efficiency, and scalability.
  • Perform application containerization and refactoring where needed (e.g., microservices).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during migrations, ensuring data integrity and performance.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, planning sessions, and progress reporting to ensure team alignment.
  • Work independently and within a team environment to deliver end-to-end cloud infrastructure solutions.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of IT experience across architecture, infrastructure, operating systems, databases, and applications.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with AWS Cloud Administration.
  • Strong understanding of AWS services, cloud infrastructure components, and migration methodologies.
  • Expertise in Windows and RHEL server administration.
  • Experience with cloud migration tools and strategies (e.g., lift-and-shift, refactoring).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to address application compatibility, data integrity, and performance issues.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and self-motivation skills.
