Job description

American Welding & Gas, Inc.has an exciting career opportunity for aSpecialty Gas Lab Technicianin Indianapolis, IN.

The Specialty Gas Lab Technician is responsible for conducting tests and preparing documentation for specialty gas cylinders and applying quality control procedures to samples submitted for approval in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position will also perform routine analytical work on medical and specialty gases using various types of analytical equipment including gas chromatographs and process analyzers.

Duties:

  • Review product orders to ensure mixtures can be produced safely and effectively
  • Adjust product recipes as needed
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of raw material and base mixed product for use in the production of specialty gases
  • Fill high pressure pure and mixed gases
  • Use gas chromatography and process gas analyzers to certify gas mixtures
  • Operate manual and automatic instruments and equipment
  • Comply with local, state and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, FDA, DOT, etc.)
  • Comply with Compressed Gas Association guidelines
  • Comply with company quality management system policies regarding ISO 17025 and ISO 17034 standards
  • Prepare product for shipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair production and/or analytical equipment as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 4 year college degree or similar work experience preferred
  • Familiarity with gas chromatography and process gas analyzers
  • 1-3 years of Industrial/Specialty Gas experience preferred
  • Proficient Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and math (algebra) skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to handle high-pressure steel and aluminum cylinders with approved equipment
  • Must be able to process detail-oriented tasks with high reliability
