Who You'll Work With:
The Insurance Client Strategy Team resides within AB's Global Insurance team which sits within the firm's global Client Group. This team partners with the firm's Insurance Sales, Solutions, Operations, Marketing, Portfolio Management teams, as well as the firm's RFP team and Asset-Class Business Development teams to service and support existing insurance client and help develop new business in what is one of the firms' key global growth initiatives. More specifically, the team and its analysts will be responsible for the following:
  • Client Service for exiting insurance clients
  • Prospecting/Business Development in partnership w/our Insurance Advisors & Insurance PM team
  • Marketing and Product Management support in partnership with our Global Head of Insurance Marketing and Asset Class Business Development teams
  • Solutions support including Strategic Asset Allocation, Peer Analysis and other Quant/Analytical work with our Senior Insurance Strategists
  • M&A and Strategic Partnership support with our Head of Insurance Strategy and Partnerships
  • Partnering with the firm's RFP team to complete insurance RFP's and Due Diligences
  • Product Development support such as driving the development of new insurance composites
  • Business Management support including executive presentations, activity tracking, etc.

The role is based in New York, NY where the firm's Insurance and Insurance Portfolio Management teams reside.
What You'll Do:
We are seeking an Insurance Relationship Manager to support and grow relationships within our institutional insurance business. This individual will serve as a primary point of contact for insurance clients, specifically general account assets. The role will partner closely with AB's portfolio managers, investment specialists, operations, accounting, legal, compliance, and senior leadership to deliver a high-quality client experience and help deepen strategic partnerships.
The role combines relationship management, client service, and new business development responsibilities. In addition to supporting existing client relationships, the successful candidate will work closely with senior advisors to identify new opportunities, support prospecting efforts, and contribute to the growth of the firm's insurance business.
This role is designed for professionals interested in developing into a senior client coverage, advisory, or business development position over time.
Relationship Management & Client Coverage
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for a portfolio of insurance company clients.
  • Build trusted relationships across client organizations, including CIOs, heads of investments, portfolio managers, treasury teams, finance teams, and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client's investment objectives, business priorities, organizational structure, and strategic goals.
  • Lead regular client engagement activities, including portfolio reviews, investment updates, and strategic discussions.
  • Anticipate client needs and coordinate timely responses to inquiries, requests, and opportunities.
  • Monitor relationship health and identify opportunities to enhance client engagement and long-term partnership value.

Strategic Account Management
  • Develop and maintain client coverage plans for assigned relationships.
  • Partner with investment teams to align client objectives with investment solutions across public and private markets.
  • Coordinate firm-wide resources to deliver thoughtful, proactive solutions for clients.
  • Prepare investment, business, and relationship reviews for both clients and senior management.
  • Maintain awareness of industry, market, accounting, regulatory, and competitive developments affecting insurance investors.

Business Development & Commercial Support
  • Partner with senior advisors on strategic business development initiatives and prospect coverage.
  • Participate in all phases of the new business lifecycle, including prospect research, meeting preparation, proposal development, and mandate implementation.
  • Support RFPs, due diligence meetings, presentations, and prospect materials.
  • Attend client and prospect meetings alongside advisors and investment professionals.
  • Help maintain and advance opportunity pipelines through consistent follow-up and relationship development.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through additional investment solutions, capabilities, and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop increasing responsibility for direct prospect interaction and relationship management over time.

Internal Leadership & Coordination
  • Serve as the central coordinator across portfolio management, client reporting, operations, accounting, legal, compliance, and other support teams.
  • Drive accountability and execution on client-related initiatives.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of reporting, analytics, portfolio reviews, and other client commitments.
  • Contribute to process improvements that enhance client service quality and scalability.
  • Share market intelligence, client feedback, and industry developments with relevant internal stakeholders.

What We're Looking For:
Required
  • 4-7 years of experience in asset management, insurance investing, institutional relationship management, client coverage, consulting, capital markets, or related financial services roles.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with institutional investors or sophisticated financial clients.
  • Strong understanding of fixed income and multi-asset investing.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate cross-functional teams.
  • Strong commercial mindset with an interest in client development and business growth.
  • Strong fluency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; experience with Salesforce.com a plus

Preferred
  • Experience supporting insurance company general account assets.
  • Knowledge of insurance investing, statutory accounting, regulatory considerations, and insurance balance sheets.
  • Experience supporting RFPs, business development initiatives, or institutional sales processes.
  • CFA, CAIA, MBA, or progress toward a professional designation.
