SUMMARY

The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Capital Projects is a senior execution leader responsible for driving project delivery, enforcing execution standards, and maintaining pricing discipline across a large geographic capital portfolio.

This role leads the advancement of capital projects and redevelopment initiatives across all phases of the project lifecycle. The AVP operates as an owner-minded leader, ensuring projects are executed with rigor, consistency, speed, and value discipline.

This is not a passive project management or reporting role. The AVP is accountable for how capital is deployed and how projects perform at both the portfolio and individual job level.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure full alignment with company standards across scope, pricing, funding, contracting, execution, and project closeout.
  • Maintain comprehensive visibility into portfolio health, proactively identifying risks, bottlenecks, and performance gaps.
  • Lead end-to-end execution of the capital project portfolio, managing the pipeline from initial planning through final delivery.
  • Exercise disciplined control over schedules, budgets, scope, and deliverables to protect outcomes and drive consistency.
  • Uphold and enforce capital execution standards, ensuring accountability for value preservation at the project level.
  • Maintain strong command of pricing strategy, cost structures, and scope definition to support sound commercial decisions.
  • Oversee and approve contracts, funding requests, and change orders, ensuring financial commitments align with execution requirements.
  • Act as the escalation point for high-risk or complex projects, driving resolution and mitigating exposure.
  • Hold vendors and partners accountable for performance, quality, and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Lead through regional Directors while sustaining clear visibility into execution and portfolio performance.
  • Drive alignment across teams through clear communication, structured reporting, and decisive leadership.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 5–10+ years of experience executing large-scale capital, redevelopment, or construction projects.
  • Strong background in managing complex pipelines and delivering multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working within a real estate, development, or capital planning environment preferred.
