This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.As an Engineering Operations lead on the Core Avionics Team, you will work to improve the engineering operating cadence, vertical integrations and hardware deliveries for the core avionics teams, with aprimary focus on electronics design and manufacturing operations. This role directly impacts technology maturation for space-rated avionics systems and requires deep understanding of electronics development lifecycles. You will perform program management functions across the entire product life cycle from research andelectronics design developmentthroughfinal flight hardware manufacturing and production.

You will manage budgets, schedules, WBS, and program plans to ensurecomplex electronics hardwareis delivered to support various mission-critical tasks. You will communicate status, risks & opportunities, variances, and recovery plans to engineering and program management teams. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the IPT's operating cadence to report key performance metrics (technical, cost, schedule, and risk)with specific focus on electronics design milestones and manufacturing readiness levels
  • Instrument and monitor the health ofelectronics design and manufacturing processeswithin IPT engineering workflows and identify areas for improvement to reduce cycle time
  • Work closely with Lunar Management Operations to integrate the Core Avionics Group into the overall program operations cadence,ensuring electronics manufacturing dependencies are properly sequenced
  • Generate boards/tools necessary for reporting IPT operations health to Lunar Product Engineering, includingelectronics design review status, manufacturing yield data, and test resultsfor Weekly Business Reviews (WBR) and Lunar Program Weekly Review and Program Management Reviews (PMRs)
  • Support IPT representation in agile product planning sessionswith emphasis on electronics design sprints and manufacturing capacity planning
  • Coach teams in self-organization andelectronics design-to-manufacturing handoff processes
  • Lead Tiger Teams when necessary,particularly for electronics design challenges and manufacturing issues
  • Define, monitor, and track all receivables and deliverable products from the IPT,with detailed tracking of electronics hardware configurations and manufacturing specifications
  • Work closely with internal and externalelectronics manufacturing and test facilitiesto coordinate on-time delivery offlight-ready avionics hardware
  • Coordinate electronics design reviews, manufacturing readiness assessments, and supplier qualification activities
  • Be a mentor, and offer leadership and development opportunities, putting those around you first
  • Embody, promote, and coach the Blue Origin leadership principles

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or closely related engineering discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in electronics design and manufacturing operationsin highly technical and multidisciplinary engineering development projects, including managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, and cost
  • Proven experience managing electronics hardware development from concept through production, including PCB design, component selection, and manufacturing process optimization
  • Direct experience with electronics manufacturing processesincluding SMT assembly, through-hole assembly, conformal coating, potting, and final test procedures
  • Experience with electronics design tools(Altium, Cadence, or similar) andmanufacturing execution systems (MES)
  • Experienced at collecting and synthesizing quantitative and qualitative information from multiple partners and translating data intoelectronics manufacturing requirements, scoping and planning documents, and ultimately build ready-for-use and fit-for-purpose tools and processes
  • Experience with electronics supply chain management, including component sourcing, supplier qualification, and obsolescence management
  • Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVMas applied to electronics hardware programs
  • Experience with Agile project management and Jira softwarein electronics development environments
  • Experience with MS Project, P6 Primavera, or similarfor electronics manufacturing scheduling
  • Experience with managing electronics manufacturing subcontractswith suppliers, including contract manufacturers and component suppliers
  • Knowledge of electronics testing methodologiesincluding functional test, environmental stress screening, and qualification testing
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment while regularly providing imaginative and detailed technical solutions tocomplex electronics design and manufacturing problems
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skillswith ability to communicate electronics technical concepts to stakeholders

Desired Qualifications:

  • MBA degree or equivalent experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience
  • Experience in managing electronics programs for complex productssuch asavionics systems, power electronics, motor controllers, or embedded systems
  • Familiarity with developing aerospace electronics technology from low TRL through flight hardware qualification
  • Deep familiarity with aerospace electronics design requirementssuch as thermal management, vibration/shock resistance, EMI/EMC compliance, radiation tolerance, and electrical grounding/bonding
  • Experience with space-grade electronics componentsand qualification processes (MIL-STD, NASA standards)
  • Knowledge of electronics reliability engineeringincluding FMEA, derating analysis, and life testing
  • Experience with electronics configuration managementand change control processes
  • Familiarity with DO-254 (airborne electronics) or equivalent aerospace electronics standards

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45 CO applicants is $144,179.00 - $201,849.90 WA applicants is $156,802.00 - $219,522.45
