Job description

ASRC Federal Advanced Research supports the Federal Aviation Administration National Airspace System Engineering Support Services FAA NAS SLES contract.ย  Join our growing team as a Technical Writer in support of the Weather Systems team at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing, editing, and displaying technical materials, such as technical directives, technical manuals, specifications, templates, brochures and pamphlets.
  • Present Engineering information with unique formatting requirements in a manner suitable for the intended audience.
  • Provide CM (Configuration Management) on publication documents
  • Collect and record engineering data
  • Performing high level research on documents that are being generated or worked on
  • Tracking and analyzing data to ensure compliance with FAA policies/procedures
  • Assist in development and maintenance of user training and procedures as needed.ย  Train others on processes and best practices.
  • Assist in coordinating activities including distributing documentation for review, dispositioning, and implementing final documentation and tracking and related actions.
  • May be required to serve as a tools administrator for the FAAโ€™s Software Change Manager.
  • Interview production and engineering personnel and reads journals, and other material to become familiar with product.
  • Maintains records and files of work and revisions
  • Determine sites that will be affected by documentation changes/modifications
  • Analyzing changes, updates, additions, deletions for maintenance schedules in maintenance handbooks.
  • Updating documentation templates with current information.
  • Assist with documentation printing
  • Support SRM (Safety Risk Management) by reviewing SRM decision memos and documents.ย  Verifying each documentation package has the appropriate SRM information.
  • Review casefiles for process and approval

Requirements:

ย 

US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required. All applicants must have resided in the United States for the past 3 years.

On-site presence will be as required by the FAA.

ย 

  • Ability to work with drawing tools
  • Must have experience with Adobe FrameMaker
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently but also as a team player in a fast-paced environment and interface successfully with Project personnel and technical leads as well as personnel at varying levels of management.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel Visio, Power Point)
  • Must be local to the OKC area or willing to relocate.ย  Will need to have the ability to interface with hardware in person.
  • Primarily in office, with telework when applicable.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 5% of the time.

Education/Experience:

  • An Associates Degree is desired -OR- A minimum of 2 years experience in this specific technical area that is pertinent to the support of the NAS.
  • Desired Experience:ย 
    • Level 2: minimum of 3 years of experience equivalent to Technical Writer Level 1
  • Ability to describe information in simple, clear language is required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Direct experience performing technical writing or editing is desired.
